i first noticed this noise a week or so after buying the car. it seems to happen with high-pitched music/sound, like talk radio or piano. it was definitely coming from the rear, but i couldn't tell which side, so i had the dealership troubleshoot it. they tried replacing the speakers, and no dice. they then tried replacing the speaker covers, and no dice. after more playing around, it definitely seems to be the speaker covers. when i climb in the back and push down on the cover, the noise goes away, so it really seems to be the cover. we've already tried replacing it, and they played with it for a few more hours today to try and figure out a solution, to no avail. the only good part of all of this is that all of the parts and labor have been free of charge, but i would not have paid a dime for this since i'm at about 1700 miles on the damn thing

has anyone else experienced anything like this? does anyone have a possible solution? i'm not really interested in taking my car apart myself or having to upgrade things since the damn thing is brand new and i shouldn't have to be investing my own time and money into fixing an annoyance that the manufacturer should be able to take care of themselves

i'm getting annoyed with the little things in this car to the point where writing that check every month doesn't seem worth it anymore, and i've only made one payment! i'm still at the point where i should be excited every time i get in my car and the payments don't even matter. now all i am is miserable and pissed i've invested a single dime into the thing, and i'm just thankful i haven't done any of the mods i've wanted to do (tint, drop, wheels, etc.) so at least i haven't wasted even MORE money

ime going to guess that you have the base turned all the way up and it usually only happens when you have the system at a little over half volume. I had the same problem, but for me it really only happend when I was lisening to rap and a high pitched base came on. There are a few things it can be.

1. Boss is over rated and those little subs just can't handle the music you are playing or the volume you are playing it at.

2. The cover may be a little loose, so just tighten those suckers down. Or have the stealership throw some sound dedener under there or addition washers under the bolts.

3. You put something oversized in your trunk and it dented the fake boxes. I noticed mine would start to sound terrible if those things had been pushed in.

But I am not an expert, so maybe doc will come on later and give you a better answer.

P.S. Of course this car is going to have some bugs, it has only been a year since its release. Just give it some time and be patient. Plus if you really want good sound quality and no problems, then upgrade your system and stay clear of bose.

i appreciate the input. nice to see i'm not alone with this noise issue. i figured i wouldn't be. it's definitely an issue with the cover, and i've noticed it at fairly low volumes as well. i also doubt it's an issue with the system not being able to handle the sound because it's mostly noticeable when i listen to talk radio, which i would hope just about any sound system could handle. i also don't set the bass very high, and on top of that, i haven't had any problems with really bass-heavy music, like metal

i'm gonna try and work with the dealership as much as i can here to get this resolved, but man oh man, i bought a new car because my old one was giving me nothing but headaches, but now this is killing me. my initial post was made before i calmed down a little bit, but it did well to vent. now when i call the dealership i can be a bit more level-headed

I believe some people had vibration coming from the rear deck as a whole. If you were pushing down on the speaker grilles, this could eliminate the vibration from the whole rear deck, so it might not be limited to just the grilles. Doc and I have sound deadened our cars rather extensively, so this would be eliminated in our rides. Can't say I noticed the vibration before I deadened though.

I had the same issue, my speakers had a horrible rattle. Come to find out, I had my bass too high. I came on the forum and was suggested, by applebonker, to turn down the bass. It worked pretty darn well. The only down side is that there is less bass, but the bose system doesn't put out all that much anyways. Furthermore, sound deadening always works!

sound deadening might be my only option. i'm not lazy, and in fact i like to do things myself, but i really don't want to have to invest a lot of time and effort into a new car just so things stop annoying me

we'll see what happens after i take it to the shop a few more times. tomorrow they're replacing the speaker covers in the back. obviously i don't think that'll work, but we'll see

Sound deadening has tons of additional benefits. I love how quiet my car is. I do occasionally drive with the stereo off and enjoy hearing NOTHING. It's a great feeling to be able to completely tune out the outside world. Don't get me wrong, it's a huge pain applying the stuff, but in the end it's always been worth it to me!

Did you deaden the floor too? I recently got the whole car done except the floor and the trunk floor. Not sure how much difference that would make? I was told it would be quite significant

The floor eliminates quite a bit of road noise (especially in the rain). It's hard to get to all of it because the carpet gets tough to pull up (I didn't want to take apart as much of the car as would've been needed to get the center of the floor near the firewall). As far as the trunk floor goes, you wont notice it unless you have the back seats down or some subs in there. If you leave the back seat up all the time and don't have a sub in the trunk, the whole trunk wouldn't be THAT beneficial to do.
