So over the past 6 months, my A/C has had the most annoying squeal noise coming from the passenger side. I sounds like the sound you get when brake pads are starting to wear down, except it's a constant noise that way louder then any "squealer pad". The faster you go, the louder the noise and at times, almost takes on a grinding noise as well. If that wasn't bad enough, every time I take it the stealership (4 times now for just this), they also say "must of quit b/c we couldn't find anything wrong."Has anyone had a problem similar to thing because I like to get it straight out - it's really starting to piss me off. I didn't pay this kind of money for a loaded A/C to have the car that everyone looks at like a P.O.S. because I'm squealing going down the street.

Check the belt for the A/C or the compressor.

How old is the fluid?

I'm guessing your form the south Paul. I'm not really using the a/c lately since this morning it was -28 degress Celcius.

It's not the belts either because there is no noise when the car is idling, only driving. I've also paced the car while it was driving and it'd coming from the passenger side front wheel.

I swear it sounds like a wheel bearing going flat on one edge but according to the dealership, I'm nuts because there is not way with the design of the front end on these cars, is there a way of it flattening and failing. Also, the problem has been happening on and off since I've had the new front drive replaced (when my trans/clutch/front assembly was done last summer). It's only been resently that it's very consistent.

I've basically told the dealership now that I hop it the bearing and I hope it seizes up because then I'm going to ask for their mechanic and reception boy (as I like to call him - because he knows everything about every car) to personally come out and tow me home.

I've been experiencing a squishy noise on the passenger side too. Was annoying as hell everytime I went over bumps on the road. I looked everywhere trying to pinpoint the sound. Then I read on the forum something about the sunglasses compartment and realized that's a possible source of the noise. Next day, I removed my sunglasses from the compartment and the sound was gone.. Well it turns out, the rattling sound of my glasses did contribute but it wasn't that. I still hear a minor squeaky sound on the passenger side when I turn the radio off.

I am not familiar with a "squishy" noise.

I noise that I have is a metallic squeal/grinding noise. Much like the one that you get when you hit the warning bars on your brake pads. Only the noise that I have is much louder and constant then the brakes warning.

It happens only while I drive. Fast, slow, smooth, bumpy, any road surface. I even went so far as the take my pads of rotors off the other day to make sure there wasn't anything caught somewhere --- Nothing. So now, I'm back as phase I - trying to isolate the problem.

You should still check the belts. Not making the noise at idle could just mean that its too low of a noise for you to hear over other engine noise. The one thing that does kind of imply that its not a belt is that you say it sometimes sounds like grinding.

1) Check your axle boots to make sure they aren't torn up or cracked in any way allowing crap into the axle. 2) While you are down there also look at any of the exposed steering joints.3) If none of the above, tell the dealership to bump off and inspect the wheel bearing or go to another dealership.
