My 2004 350Z has an annoying metalic scraping noise that happens as soon as I start it up in the morning and the noise increases as the speed increases. It's as if it is connected to the axel, or something. My husband thinks it might be the bearings. Took it to the dealer and since it only does it for a few miles after warming up the dealer blew me off with the smile and shrug "your out of warrenty" routine. The noise started before warranty but since they couldn't locate it and now its past 36K it's my problem. An attorney's office read my post and contacted me by email saying they have a client they are representing with a similar problem. Anybody have any info or like problem?

Drop it off at the dealership so they have it over night. That way once its cold and they start it up in the morning and pull it into service it will make the noise.

If you are a good customer, ask them to GRT the repair. Sometimes Nissan will do "good will" repairs and pay the dealership under warranty even if the car is out of warranty.

I believe if you took it into the dealer before the warranty was up, then the claim is still legitimate. It's not your fault they can't figure it out or reproduce the results.

Hey, thanks for responding. I planned on doing exactly as you said but the dealer said I would be charged for them looking at it. Not the greatest dealership so I am considering going to the one in San Jose. Thanks for the tip about the "good will repair" I'll see if I can talk to the S.J. dealership about that. Love the pic of your 300z! My son has one like that.

I had my z in the shop for exactly the same problem. They couldn't find the problem at the dealership and it hasn't made the noise again.

How many miles did you have on your Z when you took it in. The first time I took mine in it only had about 28K. The noise came and went and was more noticable on a cold day. Now it doesn't matter what the temprature is the noise is consistant upon start up of the vehicle and lasts for about 10 minutes then goes away. Weird. I now have 40K on my Z and the noise has become worse. I'm sick of the Dealership so I have an appointment scheduled with a place that specializes in Z's. Thanks for responding.
