In my '91 240, the light on the dash for the automatic seatbelt goes off randomly -- accompanied by an annoying chime. Does anyone know what the problem is? or how to stop the chime at least? As you can imagine, this gets pretty annoying real quick. Thanks for your help.

open the fuse box that is to the left of your clutch. It is just a plastic cover. On top of your fuse box you will see a small plug that faces upwards, remove that and the sound will stop.

I"ve donw it before.

Do they make a different annoying *** chime? I tend to leave my lights on randomly and I have had the chime unhooked since the night I bought the car because its annoying.. Any other ones out there? Another Nissan have a compatible/nicer sounding chime?

clrkn - Thanks alot -- that worked like a charm. Out of curiosity, will disconnecting this affect anything else on the car?

Dragon240 - I'm not sure if there are different chimes. I'm pretty sure the one for the seatbelts is the same for the lights.

thanks for your help

Yes the chime is the same, no it wont hurt anything its just the power to that chime.. I might go tinker with some other ones at a junkyard...

The switch in your seatbelt clip might be bad. Mine was so i just opened up the clip and cut the wire to the sensor thing and hard wired them back so it think the seatbelt is always retracted.

Do you guys have a pic of that connector? I only see that gray one right above the clutch switch. Could it be that one?
