Does anyone have unequal fuel gauge markings. The versa drives till almost 200 miles half way through the gauge and then it drops tremendously for the next quarters. Are the fuel gauge marking unequal or is there a problem with my versa.

im right there w. u masa3. it really is annoying, ill get 280miles on the upper half of the gauge (i babied my car that tank, never went past 60\-65mph) and wen it went past the half way mark to the bottom half of the gauge, the gas drops tremendously... it sux. and i don't believe the gauge has equal markings... i thnk this was already explaind in an earlier thread.

I have owned many many cars and they have all been the same as what has just been described.

the markings are not equal

it's been explained: the tank has a weird shape to it so the fuel gauge is waaayyyyyyyy off.

I'd rather have it that way than going through the top half fast and staying on the bottom quarter a long time. I know it creates false satisfaction, but I don't care. I like thinking I have lots of gas left!

My Buick is pretty even all the way down. Same # of miles whether it's the first quarter-tank or last.

This is not unique to the Versa. Almost all cars do this.

I have owned cars made by Austin, Ford, AMC, Volkswagen, Honda, Hyundai, and General motors, as well as the Versa. Every one of them has done the same thing. As Bubs said, this is hardly unique to the Versa.

wow tango you go half way with 280 miles. Thats really impressive. I hav never crossed 210 half way and then another 120 for another half, totalling 320 to 340 with highway driving. Do you have a hatchback since I have a sedan.

Pretty much every car is this way. It has to do with the shape of the fuel tank and the way the fuel level sensor works. Almost every car has a "bigger" top half of the gauge. One rare exception was the Murano, which was reverse and had a bigger bottom half of the gauge due to the odd shape of it's tank.

Meh, I always fill up at a quarter tank anyway so its not that big of a deal if it drops quick after a half.

could have been. Live near Memorial and Gessner inside BW8 if you were in that area.

PS: just noted the date on your question. Oh, well over a year behind.
