that you would not expect on a car over 50K....

06 m45 Sport, bought brand new, 20IK mi, traded 00 528 BMW in.

Paint on homelink button peels of... Had the rear view mirror replaced a year ago. Got it again...

Pattern of dirty spots on sunroof shade. Looks like when I drive with opened sunroof, the air flow inside the roof goes through some holes and filteres through the shade. Had my sunroof shade cleaned by the dealer 3 times... Comes back a month later. Just spoke to customer support... Going to another dealer to check... If they cannot fix it, will try to apply a lemon law.

Overall car is not more then OK... Slow thinking transmission - even in manual mode... Doesn't hold the road as well as it should... Slip control is worthless, though it might be my tires...

Still missing my BMW.

On the positive side - all the technology they packed in is great...

Overall: would not recommend the car... For the price over 50K you should get a better one.

i have the same homlink paint problem. i dont open my sunroof much. However i think transmission and handling are decent.

as for comparing to a 528i, the 4.5l v8 will blow the doors off the 2.8l v6

Welcome to NICO!

I am disappointed that you have had these paint problems. Albeit minor, but they should not occur, yes. I have been an Infiniti owner (two prior Q45's) for 16 years now, and I can see the slow reduction in overall quality. Still does not make me want to switch to a BMW (much more cost to get the same performance), but I can appreciate your comments.

Yes, tires are a weak link in the M for sure, although the RE050 in the Sport models is an excellent tire. The other stock tires are not great ... changing them for Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 or Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 (or others like that) will definitely make a big difference! Particularly with handling, braking, slip, etc.

Its funny that the Homelink paint is mentioned. The only car this has ever happened to me is on my last BMW. My experience with an M3 was so bad I couldn't wait to get rid of it. The BMW prior to this was excellent. There may be times where individual cars have issues and its not a problem with all the cars in a model group. I haven't had issues with the sunshade spots or road handling. I would agree that the 5 speed transmission isn't Infiniti's best work. But so far this M has been a spectacular experience for me.
