Annonying Brake Chip Malfunction

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Greetings,

I got the '10 EX35 with Tech Pack in Dec. Within the 1st 500 miles, the Distance Control Assistance / Intelligent Cruise Control stopped working and even the regular cruise control was disabled.

The service person identified a chip related with brake function as the culprit and replaced it. However, just after about another 1K miles, the issue came back.

Before go service again, I'd ask pals on this board see if anyone had same problem, and if so, how did you address it?

Thanks!

ClarkP.S. Should I complain to Infiniti? After all, it's supposed to be much more reliable than this.

Well in my opinion, if they keep trying to repair it and it becomes inoperable every several hundred miles, either they have to take the repair seriously and see what is making it happen in the first place or they owe you a new vehicle under the lemon law. Could be wrong but in NY, the dealer specifically stated if we cant fix your problem in 3-4 visits your vehicle automatically falls under the lemon law for it to be replaced. Keep ALL your service records and how long its been in there for repair, take it back everytime it stops working and give them no reason to think you could have literally done anything to cause it (they might play the blame game where say they, "Oh, are you sure you didn't try to jump start it and cause a short in the car to cause the chip to fry?", because that happened to me with Mercedes-Benz.

Take it back to the dealer and let them try to repair it again.

I don't think the technician found the root of the problem.

I have absolutely identical problem. After second visit to dealer they found nothing but after resetting internal computer the problem fixed. It's work about 10 days now. I think it is not just one car problem it some technological problem in all ex35 2010 with tech pack

I really don't know if two issues on two exs would constitute a mass problem. It could indicate some commonality but saying a chip was replaced has me scratching my head.

You have to remember that since these systems operate on the LAN network and all require perfect communication of over a dozen control units and a fault or erroneous signal may be causing the system to go into failsafe mode. What we really need to know is what codes were pulled from the system when you take it into the dealer. With Advanced ICC you wouldn't want the system to operate at all if there is a problem in the system that might effect operation. Unlike conventional CC systems every single segment of this system has the ability to trigger a lockout and subsequent dtc. The switches have normality verification and two brake pedal sensors (one has its own job but provides verification).

Now if your codes are the same I be willing to bet you that there is more likely some commonality in this issue but lemon laws tend to apply more to down time of the vehicle and safety concerns in most states. If there is a problem it will most likely be fixed with a software update as the majority of the problems are solved nowadays.

This type of thread actually highlights an issue I see becoming much more prevailent as tech packages get much more technical then they seem simpler on the inside but are actually increasingly complex and intelligent. The car isn't going to tell you why it is or is not doing what it is supposed to they may give you a light or signal but unless you know what you are looking for you very well might miss it.

I really hope you find resolution to this issue and if you could share any technical information I would really like to look into this more.

i came from an Acura, and a BMW, trust me it's no better. I'm sorry about your problems. Bring it over to Infiniti of Manhasset and see if they'll be better to work with.

personally Infiniti so far has been 100 times better than both my experiences with acura or BMW

Infiniti just issued a "recall" three days ago per this problem, and I got mine fixed today. If you haven't done so, you may want to check with a dealer.

Infinity released car computer software update on Feb 8. Yesterday updated my car. Hope it fix the problem. I remember that I told dealer "I looking for 4-weal-drive computer" Now I can expect endless software update for it Are anybody know if it Linux computer or other OS in it?
