Well Ill keep it brief, Im new to this forum so hello to all those here sporting a nissan emblem. Anyways the car is a 92 240sx convertible. After about 10 minutes the coolant starts to boil like mad. The car has a new water pump, thermostat, radiator cap and was flushed clean. I tried the world known method of bleeding but have yet to have any luck. Also the fan clutch is good and the belt is in tact. The car shows no oil in the coolant and doesnt smoke the only thing I noticed is that when the cap is off coolant splashes all over the place. So with that being said

and yes I have used the search feature but it seems like everyone has been able to get their car issues resolved and I havent even confirmed my problem so I posted...please dont smash me to bits.

How old is the radiator?

Maybe some of the lines are clogged.

the radiator isnt original but it does have some age. But when I flushed it it moved fast. Also the car wasnt that bad when I bought it but it didnt have a thermostat. When I put one in it started overheating faster.

It sounds like you still have air trapped in the cooling system. What method are you going about bleeding the cooling system?

Ive tried filling it with the bleeder open, ive tried squeezing the upper radiator hose. I tried letting it run then letting it cool down and opening the cap to refill it. Do you think theres some other method i can try? Maybe I need a bottle of holy water and a preist...

When you put your thermostat in, did it have a lil hole in it? and did you put that hole in the 12 o'clock position?

Yes, one normally uses a combustion gas detector on coolant and or a pressure gauge to actually measure the rise in coolant pressure.

Somebody previously ran it low of coolant overheated it and took out head gasket and sold to you......why no thermostat.

well lucky for me I knew something was wrong with the car when i purchased it. I was just happy that the body was in good shape so it is what it is. This weekend Ill pull the head and yank the transmission so I can do the 5 spd swap.
