I managed to install fog lights on our '06 for well under a hundred bucks, so I thought I'd go ahead and shoot for a set of factory fog light trim rings so I didn't have to paint the black ones I made from the original pair of fog light delete plates on the bumper.

150 bucks for 2 pieces of round plastic! Yowza!

It goes without saying, I think I'll pass.

I know it's been 25 years or so, but I remember buying a complete headlight housing for my 66 Mustang from Ford for under $60. And that was 5 pounds of pure pot metal!

Yeah, manufacturers typically charge a small fortune for any part particular to a specific vehicle. There are many reasons for this; OEM parts are made in limited quantities; they manufacture enough to cover the vehicles currently in production, and any parts left over are sent to the parts warehouses to be sold as replacement parts or for the occasional "upgrader" like yourself. So, to justify the cost of handling and storage, and to help control supply, they are given cart blanche to charge whatever they feel like.

OEM parts are also typically the best quality parts available, which helps justify the high cost.

I am currently experiencing "OEM replacement part sticker-shock" as I'm restoring a 1986 Honda Elite 150 scooter; there are NO aftermarket parts available for this scooter, as none were ever produced; so I'm stuck paying through the nose for new-old-stock parts from Honda's dealer network. I'm just grateful that these parts are still available... at any price.
