started the swap to SR today. Spent about 3.5 hrs today and got everthing off except for driveshaft, removing the shifter, unbolting the engine and transmission. all hoses, wires and fluids either drained or disconnected. Hopefully I'll get to the rest tomorrow.

fun stuff. The one thing I really disliked doing is removing the KA harness through the dash, that really sucks, imo.

Good Luck man, it's a pretty huge task, I'll be going though that in about 7 months when I return to the states.

the thing that killed me was getting the AC compressor back on the motor... I didn't really have trouble with the big gromet through the firewall... I cut a hole in mine for the battery cable tho so that may have made it easier :D

no a/c problem for me because my car didn't have that option :)although its an otherwise fully loaded SE (even has active speaker), kinda odd if you ask me.

The grommet itself wasn't a problem, but snaking the harness around the blower and finding (and disconnecting) the hidden plug was a pain in my ***.

looks like my next problem is the motor mounts...I can't get the damned nuts off.

too bad rhd ones aren't legal, otherwise I think the government would of shipped your rps13 for free (if you are in the military)!

yah my monts were a PITA too...

To get to that plug easier you can open the glove box... the back is held in by two plastic pins that keep it from opening all the way. You can flex the glove box to get the pins around their stoppers and the glove box will hinge all the way out of the way and you can get ot that plug easily... I'll try to remember to take pics soon...

RHD cars are legal in the states, it's just the military won't ship cars from japan to the states. Something like, if your car has over 500hp they'll ship it as "race only". I might try and go for that.

My parents lived in Okinawa until 83 and before they left they bought a 1983 Nissan Maxima and then had it shipped to Seattle. Must have been because they technically bought the car in Guam.

changed out the fuel pump Tuesday. Like to say that buying a pump from a name brand isn't drop in either. In this case HKS (looks like NISMO too), you have to modify the fuel pump carriage by cutting the pipe shorter and drilling a couple holes in the pump holder so you can attach the spacer. I thought I paid the extra cash so that I wouldn't have to do that but oh well, next time I'll know to get a walbro. I hurt my arm pretty good on monday so I didn't do much other than that.

today I unbolted the driveshaft, which was amazingly easy. I thought I'd have a mucher harder time with it for some reason undid the 4 bolts to the input shaft and then the two 17mm bolts holding the carrier bearing and it slid right out. I compared the JDM driveshaft to the auto one and the JDM one's universals are beefier.

I also installed the SMIC. I didn't have any brackets so I used some home depot universal L and straight bracket (had to bend the straight one too) to fit the IC in the stock position. I have a 91 so the proper shape was embossed in the panel for the IC connections. I chain-drilled and then used a die grinder to smooth the opening out.

I also finally got the engine mount nuts off the engine cradle. I had to blow torch them until the rubber started smoking then sprayed the nuts with water (helps break the tension). Although still tough to get off I managed to break them free, I need to replace the nuts however they are pretty chewed.

total time of 3.5hrs again. about an 1hr on tuesday. So far 8 hrs total.
