Well the quick history is that I have a ticking sound coming from my engine, pretty much only under load, a little at other times too. Checked the valve clearances, and fine for the most part. Then I took many hours pulling the timing cover off to see if I had a broken timing chain guide. Nope, all good. But my shocker came when I had an odd chunk, (not shavings) chunk! of metal in my oil pan. Striations and a stamp and all. Well, i figured it out finally. Its thrust bearing. Now, looking at the FSM it has me drop the engine, basically take the whole thing apart to replace it. I was wondering if anyone has done this through the bottom of their car without pulling the engine.

I will be doing the clutch anywayz, but still, alot more work involved. Any and all help is appreciated, I dont have a few thousand to drop at a mechanic, so I will be doing the work myself.

You can repair it that way, but as you already know, it will be alot of work. You also have to determine what other damage was caused?

Any other suggestions of things to change out while I am in there? I figure I will just get a bearing kit (havent sourced one yet) and do all the bearings instead of just the one. Not looking at high performance mod's as gas is killing the budget as is.
