okayyy well as some of you may know, i had weird idle issues going on so i took someones advice to cleaning the iacv. so i did, along with cleaning the maf, checking grounds, etc. and after all that work, i go to start my car and the car bogs! as in goes to 1k rpm then bogs its way down and dies. SO THEN, i start it back up again and pull the maf plug, the rpm's shoot to 2k rpm, stays, then goes to 1800 to 2000 then to 1800 to 2000 and so on at idle. i aslo cant rev past 2500/3000..is that suppose to happen? or is the car supposed to die if the maf isnt plugged in?? and also, i found that a metal clip in the maf plug was GONE! -_- does anyone know what that clip was for? or an idea on how to fix the clip?? poo this suckssee what i meeean

When MAF is not plugged in, it goes into limp mode - meaning engine won't rev past 2500rpm or so.

ohh okay thank you :]

now about the missing pin, i was thinking, should i just cut off the plug and make my own connectors? say with some female spade connectors and plug it in that way? has anyone done this before?? im getting desperate! :\

You can try to go to the junkyard and get a good length of the maf wire and splice it to your existing harness or find a whole new harness if your ocd like me.

i'm missing that clip too. It usually stayed connected and came loose when I damn near got airborn on this bump in the road. I just put some electrical tape over the plug and its stayed ever since. got to the junkyard and get another one or bend a paper clip to fit if it really bothers you.

hes talking about the 4th pin in the plug itself. is it an s13, s14, kade, kae??? i believe thats how that plug is supposed to be. in fact im almost positive %99.9. your problem though.... did you do anything with the iacv?? sounds like that isnt hooked up properly (vacuum hose). check for any unplugged vacuum hoses for the iacv.

its a 91 ka24de...is it really supposed to be like that?? all my friends have sohcs so i cant really check.

and YES i did clean the iacv, i used valvoline carb/throttle body cleaner. and i plugged the vacuum pipes that are underneath the throttle body. i think 3 of them? WAIT, the paper gasket on the iacv was torn so i ripped it off. is it THAT important to have a paper gasket there?

hellllpp

*and imma SHE not a HE lol :P
