And here she is....FINALLY! My new-to-me '08 EX Journey AWD

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Moonlight white, wheat interior, 49k miles, Premium & Navi Pkgs, 17" rims (pic below).

Still have 1 year/10k miles left on factory warranty which I may opt to extend another 48k/4 years for around $2k. We'll see. My friend's lease buyout ended up being only $21,700 so it was about 1 grand less than the dealer told me it would be--however, there are a few things which need to be addressed which will likely run me....let's see....hmmmm....yep....about a grand

List of To Do's.

1. paint on the hood has several scuffs (none are too deep as best I can tell) QUESTION: Does any special care need to be given when buffing the car because of the special Scratch Shield paint?

2. what look to be the original Michelin "Harmony something-or-other" (don't believe they're still in production) are pretty hard, tread is chipped and worn out--definitely need to be replaced before winter.

3. window tint!!

4. may even have the XM/Serious subscription renewed (anyone have any discount coupons they wanna' "unload"? ;) )

Thanks for looking......

Tim

I hope you enjoy many smile filled miles with your EX.

When my trial period for SiriusXM was about to expire, I called them and told them that I would continue my subscription at the $77 annual special for their Premier package. They gave it to me with no problem.

Another way, you can tell them you just purchased the car and want to test the quality of XM Service on this new vehicle with the $77/yr promotion a friend signed up for. This way you get 30-days extra out of the subscription if and when you decide to purchase it =)

That is one handsome automobile. I applaud you for purchasing one of the original Ex's. Infinity executives have an inalienable penchant for dismantling original designs. they did it to the FX, and have started doing it to the MX and the EX. As time moves on Infinity, like many companies choose to make any change, even bad ones, rather than no change at all. keeps that car in good condition and it will be a legendary car in the very near future - like so many other great original Infinity automobiles.

Well, just when you thought everything was going your way....

So, I got the new-to-me EX on Friday and of course my wife (who I just got a brand-new loaded 2011 Ford Explorer for a few weeks ago--her choice of vehicles) wanted to drive it around on Saturday. Next thing I know she starts talking like "maybe we should save the miles on the Ford and she can drive the EX to work a few times per week". Uh huh. So I just spent $38k on a vehicle which she's been harassing me to buy for the last year...only to find out she'd rather drive a used Infiniti. This wouldn't be quite so annoying if it weren't for the fact--prior to buying the new Ford--I DID suggest the idea of getting her a used G35/37, but she insisted on having a new vehicle and that it be the Ford.

Honestly, I do love my wife....but it's situations like these which frustrate me to no end. We're not wealthy and had I known I could've saved $15k+ by buying another used Infiniti, I would've been ecstatic. Arrrgh.

Sorry for the vent :)

LOL. You just had to know this would happen. Drive an Explorer or an EX? At least she tried to use a clever excuse.

We drive our EX35 more too, since it's better on Gas than my 6.0 Litre Truck.

What's funny is the new Explorer has the exact same gas mileage ratings for city/highway as the EX--only the EX requires premium fuel. So, sadly (for my wife anyway) that, too, won't be a viable excuse for her to take the EX instead of her new Ford :chuckle:

I have always used 89 octane in my EX and the G35 for the eight years I owned it and never had an issue soooo..she cannot use that one either.

One argument she may pull out is: Happy Wife, Happy Life. She has you trumped on that.

We stopped using Premium Gas years ago... and have had NO issues because of it.

Tas & EX-

Haha! Good advice; You two have obviously been married to your respective "other halves" for a while :chuckle:

With regard you to your comments, all I'm going to say there is--at least in my case--"Happy Wife" is a constantly moving target which Trump himself would have trouble keeping up with :rotflmao

Cheers,
Tim

My wife loved the EX and she is not a "car person". She has had only three cars in her life and we are retired so that should same something. When we went to the Auto Show to look at vehicles, she only liked the EX and we saw them all. But then again, she may have been thinking about my talk about getting a restored '67 Vette. Now I wonder....(joke)

Haha! Yes, I've only been married for about 7 years, but I have learned that there is **usually** a "hidden agenda" involved in some way, shape or form

"....and that, your Honor, is why I had to choke her...." - one of my favorite sayings--even more so since I've been married for some reason!

Cheers,
Tim
