hey all,. i dont know if this has been covered here or not, but I was ripping apart a KA24E out of a 1991 nissan 4X4 truck and I found that the clutch is a lot bigger in diameter than on the 240sx KA24E. the flywheel bolt patterns are the same and everything else, just the clutch is huuuuge!! I think its what, 225mm vs 240mm?

I think its a 240mm clutch. it looks the same size as the clutch I took out of my 280ZX 2 + 2. Not to mention the clutch that now resideds in my 280zx came out of a 1985 Z24 powered 4 x 4 truck. if this is true, you guys running yoru turbos could just get a 4 X 4 flywheel and use 280zx turbo clutches. and there are tonnes of performance clutches out there for 280ZX turbos. they are built to withstand a LOT of torque. hi hp L28's are usually even higher torque L28's.

thought Id share, sorry if this is a repeat.

There is a huge thread on this on FreshAlloy. Something about the "White Bunny Special"

well, this is how it works with the Z clutches. the 225 and 240mm flywheels are the same size and weight (23lbs, unless you have an early '70 240Z then it is only 17lbs) just different diameter clutch surfaces. also, I KNOW for a fact that L28E 240mm clutches and Z24I 240mm clutches are one and the same. same bolt pattern, same number of splines on the clutch hub. I needed a clutch for my 280zx and they had just gotten a 85 4x4 in the local j/y with a brand new clutch and a wrecked body. out came the clutch, straight into my 280ZX 2 + 2.

I'll check for sure tomorrow. I have my old 280zx pressure plate and disk. i will attempt to put it on the KA24E truck flywheel and makes sure the bolt pattern is correct. although, nissan being what they are with parts interchangeability and all, I am 99% positive it'll bolt right on.

Mike Lee is running 504rwhp/470lb/ft and he is using the white bunny special. But I think the ACT XT kit will hold the same and you can keep your flywheel

Yeah but an LUK clutch (which is a pretty good clutch by the way) is like $100 or so. Way cheaper than the ACT. Thats the whole point of all this.

Hmmm see I am not looking for the inexpensive (even though it is good). I am looking for a strong clutch for drifting. It has to be able to take kicks at high rpms without heating up.

I didn't do any clutch kicks with my clutch and the springs failed on me. The face was fine as when we installed it.

The white bunny gives me more options on aftermarket clutches when I turbo the KA.
