Very cool. Tochigi is a pretty badass factory from what I hear.

That was fantastically interesting. That Swede is impressively intelligent and really knows his s***. I'd love to have a beer with him.

No question. They're holding their value quite well.

It's stupid.

I think they're holding their value so well right now because of the annual increase in price too.

So dumb.

Uh, ok?

Why wouldn't they be a shoo-in for collectible status/ They're historically significant, built in limited quantities, and changed the sports car game.

No different from an NSX or Supra.

You're driving an eight year old econo-box, I don't think that you are the demographic that Nissan is targeting.

Frankly I'm surprised the GT-R has stayed as cheap as it is after its proven prowess. It outperforms cars that are double and triple in its cost on price tag size alone, then consider maintenance and upkeep charges on the cars that it's embarrassing and it's really a bargain for what you get right out of the box.

True.

I think the reason why the GT-R's price went up is because the bump up in its power.

M/T liked it: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/one ... _update_5/

Inside Line had some issues, but they were to be expected from a car in the $100K range.

All other reviews have been similar: More maintenance costs than a Sentra, but similar reliability.

Thanks Greg. I knew about the maintenance costs but had never heard much about actual reliability.

I'd encourage you to not take my word for it - I'm sure there's a lot more articles / reviews out there.

Check and see if TrueDelta has any data on the GT-R (our very own Mike Karesh runs it).

Thanks, I'm tired of sifting through maintenance threads and just looking for reliability.

Checked TrueDelta , no GTR selection but thanks, will reference for other rides.

The only thing I have read about with issues is the launch control, transmission issues with the 2009 model. In true Nissan fashion, they worked this out over time (first, they removed launch control from the 2010 and 2011 models, then debuted a revised setup for the 2012).

Other than that, I have heard of zero big issues with it. Fluids and maintenance are very expensive, as you would expect from a car of that caliber. Affording one is definitely more than just finding $70k for a used one or $98k for a new one. A transmission fluid exchange is roughly $2,200 and is supposed to be done around 18,000 miles.

That said, 0-60 at 2.7 seconds comes at a price.
