I've spent a couple hours here until my eyes are crossed without finding the exact info I need, also can't find the "What diff do I have?" Sticky that everyone refers to.
What I have is very unusual.
I have a 1996 Truck with the H190 diff, code HF35 or 354 gears with a standard transmission. That of course isn't unusual, but this is...it's a parade float.
I need to haul sometimes 15 people with about 750 lbs of decorations on it, or about 3k pounds! It works great because it only goes about 20 miles per year, almost always at about 3-5 miles per hour. It's been damned reliable, I love it.
However, I *really* need to do about 2 miles per hour so walkers can keep up, and I sometimes go up a significant little hill or two and the gearing is just too tall so the engine either wants to bog and stall, or I burn the clutch up trying to slip it enough to get the engine up into it's horsepower range to get things going on the hill, with all that weight.
I can't afford to dump a bunch of money into it, it's all volunteer and I only use it once per year for those 20 miles.
Please, what is the lowest ratio ring and pinion I can fit in the h190, and where might I find it? It doesn't even have to have ideal backlash since it will take years to wear it out at 2 mph, at 20 miles per year.
I would love your thoughts and expertise please!
Mark
Yes, this is it! (if I've done this right anyway...)
