An annoying thing about the forum software settings...

Sometimes I forget to login while I'm reading the forum and hit the reply button. I type in my post in the popup window and click "post" only to see that I haven't logged in. But my post is gone too because it was typed in a separate window so I have to type the entire thing again. Can't the admins change the notice so that it appears before the posts are typed, and not after?

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to type this but I don't see a section for forum feedback.

I've never actually had this problem...I always get the "You must be logged in to post" page...

Why not just copy what you typed and paste it in once you log in?

Or, change the "skin" to different type so you know when you're logged in. That's what I do. Plus, it looks better imo. I use the "nostalgic" setting.

Never had that happen to me before, it sounds like your internet browser is logging you off while you type for some reason.

Because the quick reply window is already gone, I can't retrieve the post.

It's not a matter of me being logged off. This happens when I forget to log in in the first place.

Get Firefox and tell it to remember your login details. That way whenever you come on Nico you wont have to worry about losing ur posts.

Ever since i moved to firefox, ive never had to worry about quick reply and then being told to log in.

Plus if they changed the quick reply settings it would lose some of its "quick reply" status.

So i suggest you step ur game up.

Hmm, as other people stated, if I'm not logged on it tells me so when I click on "Reply".

The forum will not let me type up a reply if I am not logged on...

Yes but you can still click quick reply. And the little window will actually pop out and let you type. But as soon as you click post it tells you: you have just wasted x seconds of your life, please log in and try again

Still, i dont think this is a major issue that requires a software change or even a rant.

If you can remember if you logged in or not, you need to get a browser that handles that for you.

Already have firefox but I set it to delete my cookies everytime I close the browser (that's the way I prefer it), and I would rather not have to change my settings just for a bug on this forum.

Quote »Plus if they changed the quick reply settings it would lose some of its "quick reply" status.[/quote]I don't really see how fixing this issue would affect the button's "quick reply" status.

If you look near the top, you will see something that says "You are logged in as *insert UN here*"

If you're not logged in, it will say you're not logged in.

I actually do this a lot, but I do not hit the "Go Back" option, I hit back in my browser and everything I wrote is still there. I don't think that helps any at all, I just wanted to chime in.

There are a few ways to deal with this;

a) Change your NICO theme to something other then the default.- EX) Change it to a blue setting. SO you know when you're signed in, you see blue and when you're not it is the default grey.

b) Use Google Chrome- I use Chrome and I set it up to be signed in at all times. My laptop stays online all the time so EVERY TIME I click on NICO I am good to go.

firefox saves any messages you've typed in your history - internet explorer doesnt... so if you go back or if the page crashes it disappears.

Use FF

Oh and Chrome records the same.

If your entire PC crashes, when you start it up it and click on Chrome it will ask you if you would like to open up the previous pages.

And if you X it out by accident when you open a new tab it will allow you to open up 3 of the most recent tabs you have closed. Also when you press back on Chrome it will save what you have done.

Use Chrome

i have my ff at work (where is do 99.99999% of my posting) set up to delete all my history/cookies/cache etc every tiem i close the browser. what i do is as soon as i open up nico, i immediately log in. after a couple of days, you won't even think about doing it, it'll just become second nature, and you won't have this problem anymore.

He still shouldn't be able to begin creating a post if he's not logged in, though. Something's goofy there.

There's also a quick reply button (same link) at the bottom of the thread, next to the forum drop-down menu.
