I DID SEARCH!! Get that out of the way now!

Two Part Question

Just Wanted To Know if any one has had any Trouble With AMS Performance?I Ordered and paid for one of there KA24DET For my S14 But i have the Sneaking Suspicion that they sent me an S13 Engine (The Gasket Set that was included is for the 91-94) and now i have called and Emailed left messages for Eric Gaudi (AMS Sales Manager) And No Reply. He did ask me if it was for an S13 or an S14 and i told him it was for a 1995 S14 SE.

Secondly I guess the parts that i bought for the Engine are now useless?(I.e. 95-98 Water Pump, alternator, Distributor,Starter) OR can they be used on the S13 Engine?

Any Help Would be Great thanks.

iirc the head gasket from those years will work perfectly with the newer year engine as well, so it still maybe a s14 engine.

check the casting numbers on the head and block. I believe that the S13 casting numbers are 53F. Not sure about the S14 tho

I think everything is the same for both motors....

Except:(what I'm aware of)

The head: Cam caps on the rear of the S14 head are missing. Valve cover gasket is different.

Intake Manifold: No butterflies on upper intake runners. Maybe an extra sensor or two in this general area depending on OBDI/II.(but shouldn't matter if you just bought the long block)

Other than that, I'm dumbfounded. But they interchange EASILY by only changing the intake manifold and a sensor or two.(from what I've heard)

I have an S14 sitting in my driveway, but I've only popped the hood twice since I bought it.

And for all I know, I could be wrong. But that's what I know. And that's not much...

Hope it helps.

Alrighty Just Got off the Phone with Ivan The machine shop they use sent them an S13 Head instead of an S14 Head, Which isnt a big Deal Except my shiny Powder coated Valve Cover is now not going to Fit, The only huge difference between the S13 and S14 Head is the Bolt pattern and the two cam caps on the back so at least all my other parts will work Just fine! So Basically AMS is Fantastic and I am 100% Satisfied!!!

On the vary back of the valve cover the bolts that hold it on the head. if there is 3 bolts its a s14 head 2 bolts s13 head. Like the s14 valve cover will have one on the rear right rear left and center. the s13 will only have 2 on the coners.

BTW if its just the block and head it really dont matter. now if it has the s13 intake manifold youll have a few more things youll run into. if your un sure post a pic of the back side of the vavle cover and a few other shot of the motor someone will know and ill be back on.

You really should look for 520whp at the track and still be able to drive home at low boost

With that motor i dont see a problem anyway
