Amp wont stay on

I've got a 250W Amplifier, It's hooked up and all, green light says go. Fuses are all good, it's connected to remote behind the deck, but when I ground it the light goes off. I'm not getting any sound out of the speakers. But when it's grounded for a moment, it makes noise.

Does it stay on with the speakers disconnected? I'm a little confused by your description about the green light going off when you ground it. I would think that it shouldn't show any lights if it isn't grounded. What kind of an amp is it and what are you hooking up to it?
