I can get a 400 watt 4 channel amp for really cheap, and i was wondering if i only hook up 2 speakers then can i get 200 watts to each speaker, or is it like a 4x100 and you can't make it a 2x200. If you can't make it like that is there any ways that i hook it up to make it like that 2x200?

well i seen the amp, and since it's 4 channel there are 4 positive and 4 negative plug in spots for the speakers, what i'm asking is if i only plug 2 speakers and leave two of the other spots blank will i get 200 wats to each speaker? or only 100?

Some amps can run as 4 ch or 2 ch, if you can see the amp, either look to see if there are any label/references to those positive and negative leads that would indicate you could use the positive of CH1 and the negative of CH1?

Or the name/model of the amp?

It's not too unusual for an amp to support waht you are talking about, but it's not as simple as only plugging 2 speakers in, but (if it can) "how" you plug them in.

Simply leaving 2 channels empty will not make the remaining 2 channels more powerful.

well if i remember correctly it's a BOSS amp like series 300 or something like that but it's a 400 watt amp, i can look at it tommorow what should i look for to see if i can run it like that?

Is this it? If so, according to their site http://www.bossaudio.com it would not give you the full 4 channel rated power thru 2 channels
