what are the contents in the amp wiring kit?? does it include the power and ground wire terminals?? fuse holder and fuse that goes near the battery?? It'll be hard to find a bass knob to go to that amp since I don't think that amp comes with one.

You might be able to use one of these on sonicelectronix.com...there might be some compatible or universal ones, plus they also have line out converters so that you can hook up the amp to your factory radio.

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i46_ ... motes.html

The main thing you do NOT want to crank up the amp gain on the amp since I'm assuming it's a low powered 2 channel amp. A lot of times, with underpowered amps, people have a tendency to crank up the gain where you'll definitely clip the amp and possibly cause damage to those kickers. I'm not even sure what voltage the factory radio with or without the Bose is rated at.

I also have a factory radio without the bose, but I'm scrapping it for an aftermarket radio, 2 channel amp to power front component speakers and a 1700 mono amp to power my sub when my tax refund comes in...

if you were to get another amp, what's your budget??

Highly unlikely. It looks like that is a Sony XM-2165GTX which would provide only 400 watts RMS @ 4 ohms. Considering each one of those subs should be able to handly 600 watts RMS, even fully clipped (square sine wave) that amp should not be able to blow the subs. With a square sine wave, I don't think that amp can put out much more than 600 watts RMS. Clipping shouldn't cause damage, but it will make it sound like dookie.

Also, that amp is rated only at 4 ohms as far as I can tell. If you run it at 1 ohm I'm pretty sure it'll over heat and you'll fry the amp. May want to rewire your subs.

For the converter, you just need to connect it to the speaker wires for the rear 6x9s. Should be able to just grab a couple of wire tap-ins from anywhere.

well maybe not clip the subs, but definitely the amp and that amp is probably not 1 ohm stable. It's probably 2 ohm stable but it won't be enough to properly feed those subs. Since it's a free amp, it'll power them up, but not as much as what you should have hooked up to those subs.

there should be a grommet near the steering column or where the brake lines go through the firewall. You can run the cable through that grommet onto the battery

The easiest I found was the passenger's side. Under the glove box (easier if you take out the glove box). There is a grommit there and you can feed the wires through up to the engine bay. Works great. I have my power wire, and other stuff for my boost gauge and such through the same grommit. It's great. More than enough room to run multiple things.

You'll have to remove a bit of the insulation, it's high behind the glove box. And you'll need to drill a little hole in the cowling. I though I had pics of this but I have lost them. I'll take more in a couple hours on my break at work.

You might consider trying to search the forum. Here are two threads with pics.

Sorry I can't be more help on the routing of power cable. I had to drill a hole for mine, and most people don't like that idea. However, I couldn't find an easy location to run 0 AWG cable through the firewall without drilling. 4 AWG is probably a completely different story.

Clipping doesn't hurt anything though. It's all in the power generated. A 400 watt RMS amp will likely run at roughly 600 watts RMS fully clipped. The RMS rating is for a non-clipped signal. If you have a sub that can handle 1000+ watts RMS, you would not cause damage by running a fully clipped signal from an amp rated for 400 watts RMS. The only failure mode would be a mechanical defect, but you'd have a failure there regardless of input power.

the alpine PDX amps are great...they're conveniently small and they can be stacked on top of each other, so if you plan to go with a 4 channel and mono pdx amp, that'd be an ideal setup.
