So today was a big day for my system in my car. Finally got a headunit to install(Clarion rdb365d... nothin special, but the price was right at $0), got that in and working in no time(i was surprised how easy it was to work in that area, lots of room and easy to get in and out).

Next I put 6.5s in the door, and 4x6s in the back. Fronts took a little while to get mounted and wired, but no big deal. I have an amp(Profile 400sx) that I had used in a previous system, that I want to use to power the speakers. I installed that(under the passenger seat), got power/ground/remote to it, ran RCA from the HU, and connected the front speakers.

Amp turned on... but I have no signal. I am getting nothing through the front speakers. The rears are still hooked up to stock amp, so they were still playing. This is a working amp, I took it out of my previous system 6 months ago and it has just been sitting in my room since then. What could the problem be here? Anything I should look for to see if I did something wrong?

Thanks

-dan

Did you plug in all four RCA's? It is a 4 channel amp right? Maybe you plugged the RCA into the amplifiers output instead of inputs? Do you have to make any adjustments to the switches on the side of the amp for your particular configuration. Maybe the deck has a setting that needs to be turned on before connecting to an amp. Check your ground wire connection verify that it is secure and in contact with bare metal, no paint. These are just a few things I would check. Also you should check your Battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections. Then check fuses. If an amps main power fuse is blown, sometimes the LED will still turn on if there is a solid ground. Good luck , post back if you figure it out.

Its only a 2 channel amp, but it will only be powering the fronts for now. There is only 1 rca pre-out on my headunit, and that is connected to the amp.

I dont have the manual for the headunit, but I couldnt find anything that looked like it needed to be turned on on the HU to send a signal to the amp.

Ground should be fine, I sanded down around a hole where the seat bolts down(its under the pass seat).

Ive been reading, should I be bypassing the factory amps somehow other than just running new wires??

If you have front active speakers, you can remove the front amps and run new speaker wires to the 6.5's you installed no problem. Did you check the battery, and fuses, both in the engine compartment, and on the amp if it has one?

Hows your gain set? Does your head unit require you to enable the RCA-outs?

Well I cant find anything on the HU that looks like an option to enable the rca-outs. I cant find any documentation for the HU either, the clarion site doesnt even have this model listed.

For the time being, I ended up just connecting the new speakers to stock wiring, and running it off the HU... which sounds like crazy because the internal amp in the HU is horrible.

I dont think my amp is bad, it came out of a working system in my old car, then sat in my closet for 6 months.
