I'll be upgrading my audio for less distortion in the main speakers and more bass from the sub...not right now, but I'm collecting the info. To me the existing sub to OK as far as quality, nothig to write home about but not bad. I just need it louder. There's a thread where mexillis said, "Also you will def. need an aftermarket amp in order to get more bass." My question is, can't I just bypass getting a new sub and just get an amp to feed the existing woofer? If so which moderately priced amp can I get?

- if you are trying to use the factory sub and just go with an amp, think that would be possible, (based on what i have seen). Check out http://www.crutchfield.com and you can take a look at their selection there. Whatever model you see that you like, you may want to get that model # and shop around to see if you can get a better deal.

Keep in mind that there are subs that'll fit in the factory enclosure. The Bose system is good, but it's not great. Especially once you add that after market amp to it. Good luck with your decision and maybe one of these audio pro's will chime in to give a different opinion.

I added a amp and a sub. The best decision by far. The sound comes through clean and sounds great. I don't think that you would get much more from the factory sub then you already do. I don't know what they are rated for, but I am sure it's not as powerful as a aftermarket one. My advise would be to save up for the sub and amp combo. Don't buy the amp and hope it sounds well. I personally don't like to do the same thing twice. If I buy a amp and it doesn't sound good, I don't want to have to buy another for the powerful sub that I'll be putting in later. I purchased mine from sonicelectronix.com They are pretty knowledgeable and they are about the cheapest authorized dealer I could find. Good luck in your choices and search.
