when i start my car the amp gauge sits still but when i turn on lights it twitches and when i rev the engine etc, it starts creeping up towards the + side. i don't remember if it was always like that... hahaha. i thought it was the voltage regulator so i swapped it out, but it still does the same thing...

anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? it's an L28 swapped 240z btw.

the wiring in these were screwy when new, I'd go around with a brass bruch pull and clean all your grounds, and see if ti clears thing up a bit, also the switches can be an issue you can take them apart and clean them as well, just a PITA

thanks for the advice. i cleaned up my grounds and connections but the gauge will still twitch when i play with my lights. however, when i'm revving it won't move. is that normal? i know the amps should differ when putting a load on the electrical system, but i don't want to blow myself up by driving around a dangerous car.

my 240 isn't running to check but if it's not dipping below half wasy I'd say it's OK, later cars replaced the amp meter with a voltage gauge, but yes the headlight sare the single largest electrical draw in the S30 so not suprising that it shows at the gauge
