My amp blew in my 2004 g35 coupe. I have contacted numerous stereo stores and they all tell me something different. Do I need to buy an oem replacement or can I buy aftermarket? One store told me the infiniti deck doesn't have power and that it comes all from the amp so buying an after market won't work unless i buy new speakers and a deck and someone else tell me an aftermarket amp will work, I will just have to change the settings so I don't blow my speakers since my amp that blew was 225 watts I think and the new one would be around 300. I'm confused . I called my local infiniti shop and they gave me a price of 900 for a  new amp. That's insane. I don't want to buy a used oem part either. Any thoughts?

Don't know your trim level, but this site lists an amp for $79.06 http://www.infinitipartszone.com/Page_P ... nlPartList

Seems cheap considering this used one is $125 http://www.ebay.com/itm/04-06-Infiniti- ... 4a&vxp=mtr

Do you have stuff like voice command/phone/nav? If you do then you'll prob need an oem amp to get those functionalities back through your audio. If you don't have them or you don't care about that then you can get any aftermarket amp and wire it up to your existing speakers as long as the ohms match (4 ohm or 2 ohm). If you don't know your current speaker ohm you can get an amp that will do both ohms...alpine comes to mind.

From there, you take the wires from the head unit and run that to thè amp input and the speaker wires and connect those to the amp output.

You should probably make sure it's the amp that's bad and not the head unit before you go out and buy an amp. You don't need new speakers unless you blew them too. You'll also need something called a line converter that actually goes between the head unit and amp.
