I hope silvias arent as hard to get over here as skylines are, are they? And i mean like a SILVIA not a conversion. Like if i wanted to import an S15 itd be do-able right?

not really lower class. it's in a lighter weight class though. skylines would be like heavy weights.

if you want one you can get but it'd be illegally done no big deal if you're down you can have it.

why do u want a silvia...do u have a 240? just get a sr20 and silvia front end and BAM... US silvia, and you'll be actually able to drive it since its lhd

yea, as cool as it would be to have a JDM silvia.. all this talk recently about importing silvia's is getting annoying.. a RHD in US would be very pointless.. and why pay all that money for the shipping and legalization when you could in fact just hop on the bandwagon and do an SR20 and silva front..

If you got the money, a JDM RHD Silvia would be cool as a collector's car. Plus I think keeping it as a collector's (limited mileage allowed I believe) would be easier legally.

I, however, don't have the money

Hey this is a forum isnt it? I asked a question u dont have to answer if you dont want to, and 240DRFT ive driven RHD numerous times (overseas and i am aware of the differences of driving RHD in the U.S.) im not completely uneducated about what im asking for. And no i dont own a 240sx, i drive an Altima.

It's easier to import the Skyline because Motorex has done the crash testing and as far as I know, are the only people who know what steps are in order to make it legal.

No one has made that sort of investment on the Silvia though, So although you can get one here as a off-road only car (I'm not sure of the details) getting one street legal is not possible.

Its POSSIBLE, if you have the $$$

anyways, you can do it illegally, if you think you can slyly escape the authorities..

if not, just do what everyone eles does + more... 240sx + s15 face + sr20det.. the most.. commonplace?

just get a japanese dashboard, door panels, center console, steering wheel and rack. Convert a 240, that's what I would do. Well that and lick Jessica Alba's naughty parts but the RHD conversion is a more attainable goal

I've driven a RHD Silvia twice in the past couple weeks. The novelty wears off real quick.

it's more natural for me. I was always resting my arm on the door in the states, when I had to shift I had to change hands now I just leave my hand on the shifter all the time.

I know it can be done legally if you know the right people and you work for the right company.

I know a guy here that drives a silviaS14 imported straight from japan and he registered it and got MI plates on it so please dont say that you cant do it or it has to be illegal if you have never seen it in person.

Getting away with an imported S14 would be a lot easier than with an S15. Perhaps he registered it with another 240s Vin? If you have the name of the place that legalized the S14, I'd be most interested

Importing a silvia for coolness reasons is as stupid as anything Ive heard concerning cars.

If you have unlimited funds, knock yourself out.

it is possible... but its pretty hard getting away with a S15... i have a friend that got away with his S14 but yup he spent a lot of money on it... I thought it was pretty stupid using all that money... I would just convert an 240SX... but yeah... it would be tight if i had the money to get an S15 over here...

there is absolutely no reason to buy or ride a RHD in america

unless its a japanese "exotic" meaning, evos and skylines and whatever other things that they never sold in the US.

rhd = no fast food = hungerrrr you get the point!yeah, and if you realyl wanted, you could vin-swap but thats illegal, so i dont recommend it, however.. if you just convert to lhd, and swap vins, whos gonna know? noone but the people who did the convo., then you can get it registered and all that jazz.. but who goes t hrough the trouble to actually do that? lol unless, again, its an evo or a skyline

If you are really wanting one and feel like going through with it, you can submit the proper paperwork to the NHTSA. They will review your submittal AND if everything is in order they will consider it for further review.

I can't find the form on their site right now, you might try poking around and see if you can't find it. NHTSA's Vehicle Importation Regulations
