Greetings everyone, not really looking to ask a question just hoping to read some different opinions. I am currently living in Spain and will be here until sometime 2018/19 when I transfer for work, possibly back to the US. I have always liked the 240sx aka the 200sx in Europe and since the s14 200sx comes with the sr20 stock it is a very appealing car option. I have been reading about the US car importation laws and before I buy a car I wanted to weigh my options.

I could buy a s13 and enjoy it while I am here. It would probably be old enough to import back to the US if I return but seems kind of pointless to do so when I could pick another one up that is already legal with the same engine.

I could buy a s14 and:
A. Enjoy it while I am here and sell it when I leave. Probably would not mod it much since I likely wouldn't get the money back when sold.
B. Pull the engine/strip the parts I want when I leave and ship them with my household goods. Put the parts into a US shell. More work but maybe worth it.
C. Buy the car and hope I get lucky with a second overseas tour where it would cross the 25 year threshold.
D. An option I have not considered?

Or keep driving my boring beater car for a few years and wait until I get back to the states to buy a US s13/14. Not very fun for me and I don't know 100% where I will go next. I wish I had bought one while I was still stateside and sent it over but my money was tied up with transfer related stuff.

So, what would you do?

I would pick up an S13 or S14 to drive while you are there, then sell it prior to returning.
