What is the function/importance of the Ambient switch?...just for clarity...it is the sensor looking thing that sits directly in front of the radiator on a steel piece that connects to the hood release.

i believe its for the air conditioning system. According to the service manual it controls the ac clutch. I followed the wire diagram, it goes to a relay that inturn goes to the engine computer.
