Accent lighting question

Hey everybody. I'm trying to install 4 by 6" led stripes under the seats and 4 by 12" same area. The longer ones (12") will be connected to the doors so everytime I open the door they light up in full brightness. The shorter ones I want to connect to the dash dimmer? It's like when lights are off then stripes are fully bright just like the dashboard and when I dim the dash then the led stripes are dimmed as well. Here's the problem I met: I connected 1 stripe to dimmer wire behind the cd player just to test and it is actually lighting up only when the headlights are on. Also it works the opposite way then the dash. When I dim the dash led stripe gets brighter. Now anybody knows other way to connect it like different wire behind the speedo or something? Where did you you power the door activated LEDs from and where are you putting them on?

I didn't connect them yet but I'm planning to run 1 wire from map light. Where to install...didn't decide it yet. Will decide while connecting them. BTW today I connected couple lights from glove box. Working just the way I wanted except they're off when the headlights are off but I wanted my led in full brightness just like the dash. So I don't know why it didn't work with dimmer wire behind the cd player. Maybe it's negative 12V over there and cd player recognize it in different way? I have no idea. Should check the voltage with voltmeter.
