Amber 4WD on, blanked display (Xterra 2012)

On my Nissan Xterra 2012, the 4WD light is on. The associated display is blank.
My mechanic tried to retrieve data from the test plug, but no stored faults were associated with AWD.
My Nissan was on the hoist, and we couldn't find any clue what the root of this failure could be.
Could it come from the selector? If there are no stored faults, I assume there is no computer for 4WD control.
I'm open to any suggestions or ideas you may have. What do you think could be causing this issue?

There is a transfer C/U and it should be on the CANbus. Check fuses 57 and 58 for power and make sure they aren't blown. If they' have no power, check Xfer Shutoff Relays 1 and 2, one of those is probably bad. See PG-70 here:
