I saw a bumper sticker that said:

"If God didn't want you to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of meat"

I hope that doesn't piss anyone off.

But I dunno what to tell you. I love eating as well. Especially meat.

I had the same occurance over the summer. Also, just going to the barn every week and dealing with crappy chicken at school made meat so damn repulsive.

I don't miss it at all and I don't have to try to not eat meat. It's just not something that appeals to me.

Are you Asian?

Living at home was really hard for me. I stopped eating red meat years ago but my mom constantly tried to make me eat beef. Once she realized how it would make me sick, etc. she finally let off. It's definitely a lifestyle change and it does take a little more preparation. Vegetarian meals are much easier and healthier to prepare.

Hmmm I find that in times of trouble the best solution is a large rare prime rib.

Yes, much healthier, meat is killing us all

You want to keep eating meat, just think of that wonderful thing called the food chain. Just because we were put on top, doesn't mean we have to feel guilty about it. If you don't want to eat meat, go vegi. It's all a personal lifestyle decision.

Better yet, don't go vegitarian. Just stop eating meat when you don't want it. With some high and mighty title, you CAN'T eat meat because you're a VEGITARIAN. If you just don't want meat, you can just turn it down and say you'd prefer something else. Then when you do want a nice little piece of meat, you can have it.

You're so preachy about this. It is NOT inherently healthier to be a vegetarian. It wouldn't surprise me if many vegetarians ate healthier than the rest of us omnivores, but that has nothing to do with never eating meat. Meat is good for you in moderate quantities. Much better than eating inorganic supplements and vitamins all the time. To be healthy as an omnivore you have to eat moderate amounts of everything to keep everything in balanace. That's no different than what you have to do as a vegetarian except you substitute pills and beans for rack of lamb and prime rib. There's nothing wrong with having a moderate amount of meat.

Back on topic, I agree with gabossie. Eat meat if you feel like it, eat something else if you aren't in the mood. There's nothing wrong with enjoying what you eat.

BTW, excellent quote in you sig vicki

Yeah good call guys, while you can also have a healthy vegetarian diet, it is a necessity that you take certain vitamins (I don't remember which) in order to stay healthy, a few good friends of mine in high school were vegetarian. On the other hand, if you read any fitness site, the kind dedicated to weight loss and gain through exercise, they'll all say get one serving of red meat per day and eat a bunch of chicken. *shrugs* just figure out something that works for YOU.

yeah!! I don't want tofu, I'd rather have a mouthful of beef stew. I don't want to be vegetarian, Why eat beans when you can have steak instead? It's survival of the fittest, And we're winning!

Am I vegetarian? Yes, except for the meat. Actually, I don't often eat meat, but to me, the issue isn't mostly about that, although for sure large quantities of meat are not good for you, to say nothing of the cow. I tried going completely vegetarian but c'mon, I'm a 1st generation with 3rd world immigrants for parents. All they had was meat! So i'm being practical now. I try to eat food, even if it is chicken, fish or even steak, that is pure - that is, not poisoned the way almost all our food is, with hormones, steroid and antibiotics. That is why I attempted to being a vegetarian instead of a semi-vegetarian. What an open scandal in America that no one makes a peep anymore about this country's poisoned food supply, the preservatives, the pesticides, the chlorine in vast amounts necessary to make the water that comes into your house not kill you immediately. Just to get food that isn't fundamentally compromised is a major effort, and thank God I have a small army of people out doing it for me.

p.s. Funny how Jesus was like "screw him" if God didn't want us eating animals.

I didn't say anywhere in this thread that eating meat is unhealthy. I said most vegetarian dishes are easier and healthIER to prepare. Compared to burgers and steaks, grilled veggies or stir fry with brown rice is healthier, is it not?

I suddenly have a craving for a good black bean veggie burger. MMMMMM tasty. I love meat, but I hate hamburger. Not much beats a good (by good I mean high quality, not some cheapo brand from walmart--that stuff can be terrible) veggie burger.

Hahahha well, ummm, if eating something, ANYTHING makes you want to throw up, its time to stop eating it.As they say on the west coast: "Like, duh?"

And if mom gets upset, I guess you'll have to start cooking your own meals. On the plus side, learning to cook will help for when you move out.

burgers and steaks, sure, but red meat is still necesarry in your diet, and most fish and chicken dishes are incredibly good for you.

I was kind of born vegetarian. My parents fed me soy milk instead of regular milk as i was growing up. I see all these problems with controling the flu. But i have a dare for all these people that get the flu. I dare you to stop drinking milk. I eat meat but i refuse to drink milk.

fish vs brown rice=fish wins. The carbs brown rice has and the lack of protein it has fish is way better for you. But fish and rice = GOOOOOOOOOOOD

and red meat is a luxury. It's not really all that healthy. But chicken and fish are. Fish are healthy due to everything on the fish is good for you including the fat.

Chicken is good for you becuase its a source of protein and doesn't have the huge amounts of fat red meat has.

i think when the earth has reached carying capacity, everyone will eat vegitation, because if you look at the energy that goes into meat, its somthing like 200 times the amount of energy required to get the same calories and stuff from vegitation

the only problem is that we're not designed to eat just vegetation, we'll have problems getting necesarry vitamins and minerals.

actually our ancestors were vegetarians before they were able to kill other animals. They just really liked the taste of meat instead of just plain greens.

*shrugs* most primates eat meat in addition to their mostly foliage diet, almost all insects, with the addition of whatever small animals they can catch.

Other animals eat their meat raw. Human bodies cannot digest and process raw flesh (with the exception of fish) without getting sick. If nature had intended for us to eat meat, then out bodies would be able to eat it raw. And for the thousands of years we've been eating meat as a civilization, it's funny how our bodies still sometimes reject it.

I honestly don't know why people make such a big deal out of vegetarians. It's a lifestyle choice and it's yours to make. All my friends eat meat and I don't rip on them for it. I just expect the same courtesy. *shrugs

Oh... dont get me wrong. I dont have a problem with vegeterians. But if your are throwing up when you think about something so stupid then

A: your a pansie,B: let your stupid ideas control your life way too much, and C: need to seek proffesional help.

The want to regurgitate because your imagination tells you to is something that shows a loss of reality and the fact that your brain is playing tricks on you....
