Hey experts: I saw this ebay ad for some plugs supposedly for the Q:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 2159372750

In response, I emailed the seller the following: FYI - According to Infiniti and NGK (as well as numerous Q45 experts), these can NOT be used in the 90-96 Q45.Check out our site http://www.nissaninfiniticlub.net for more info, and even feelfree to list your item in our buy/sell forum. Take care and best of luck.

He responded as such:Hi there, starting in Feb 1993, these were the original installed plugs on all Q45's.Before that they used 22401-27N65 plugs but it was found that those plugs were failing under load conditions and were superceded by the 22401-1P115 plugs by Nissan engineering. Thanks for pointing out a myth for me however.

Be sure to visit our website at http://www.wayzatanissan.com for many great deals on new and pre-owned vehicles as well as many great specials on service and parts.

I responded as such:Hate to differ with you, but the factory install for ALL Q45's from 90-96 was the NGK PFR6B-11 plugs.

So, am I talking outta my a$$ or should I keep it up? I'd hate to see an unknowing Q owner get hosed.

Might run this by Joe... he's the parts guru! I know everything I've ever replaced on the Q has been Platinum.

P/N 22401-1P1S6VW for the normal heat range, and 22401-1P1S5VW. These cross reference to the PFR6B and 5B numbers I think...

So you're saying we're possibly talking about the same parts?

Never heard of the Iridium plugs being Q-friendly.

Don't think so... I think this guy may have just thrown in the word Iridium for the hell of it... "platinum iridum" plugs...

I even looked back at some older invoices, and the p/n was different, but still not what he has listed. I'll try to ask Joe when I call for parts this afternoon or tomorrow.

22401-27N65: these are the PFR5B22401-1P115: these are the PFR5Gputting the P/N instead of the ngk number doesn't make sense to me, since the manual says the PFR number instead of the P/N.

when i changed mine the plugs i took out were PFR6B plugs, which the service manual lists as original on the back of front cover, but in the part about changing plugs it says to use G plugs (5 for normal, 6 for cold type). i put in 6G's.

For a dealer person he doesn't seem to be very smart. he shouldn't call them iridium and should list the PFR number, because most people won't know the P/N. my car is a 94, so by what he said shouldn't it have had the 5G plugs, instead of the 6B (or 5B like he said)? seems that the service manual contradicts what he said, and even though i don't know the actual production date, it certainly didn't come with 5's.

Just talked to Joe...

22401-1P115 is the hot range (PFR5G)22401-1P116 is the normal range (PFR6G)

The part numbers changed recently, so that's where my confusion came from. This guy is just selling the hot range NGK platinum (PFR5G) and threw in the word Iridum because it sounds good I guess.
