Am I asking to die or kill someone? G25 wheels vs IS300

Hi

so my s*** oem chrome lexus wheels are leaking air like crazy due to chrome peel.

Picked up some 5x114.5 7.5x17" +45mm offset 66.1 center bore diameter 2012 Infiniti G25 wheels.

Now I took them to the wheel shop and they put the wheels on and then told me it wasn't going to work because the shank is a different size and there are no lugnuts that are going to work.

From about 5 hours of googling and measuring with paper, pi*D and a ruler I've come to these conclusions:

-The lugnuts provide torque to create a friction fit between the wheel surface and the hub. This force transmits the energy from the axle to the wheel.
-A hubcentric fitting centers the wheel on the hub to provide proper fit and eliminate vibration.

Measurements:
The Infiniti uses 12x1.25, lexus 12x1.5
The diameter of the Lexus mag shank lugnut is 2cm.
I saw a measurement of a 2008 sport model (http://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v ... -hell.html) and it seems the same as mine. Does anyone have measurements of their 2012ish G25 with 17" wheels? Pop a nut off and hit it up with a caliper?
The difference between the diameter of the holes for the lugnuts in the G37 wheel and the IS300 wheel is approximately 1.5mm

So the problem is that the lugnut is kind of 'loose' inside the lug nut bore when the wheels are off the car. It's not a 'tight' fit like the OEM wheels. Now there's a good amount of coverage provided by the head of the nut and the washer but its just not the same feeling as stock.

If you see here: http://i.imgur.com/HPdfu1b.jpg What it looks like is picture A, what it seems like it should be like is C. I didn't draw the picture, I know there should be a gap between the shank and the aluminum on the end that mounts to the hub. This artist didn't model that part correctly. The end of the shank should not touch the end of the wheel.

So my plan is to just get the hubcentric 60.1 to 66.1 adapter and mount the wheels with the IS300 mag shank washer lugnuts.

So, anyone ran into this before? Is this how the stock mag lugnuts fit? Am I going to die?

Ok, now that the holidays are over, had some time to investigate the lug nuts.

Found a Toyota part that is nearly identical to the Nissan Part but has the 12x1.5 threading.

Nissan Part No. 40224JK00A
Toyota Part 90084-94001

Here's an album detailing the important structural differences.

Going to head over to my real shop tomorrow with the new lugnuts and the 66.1 to 60.1 hubcentric adapters, f*** the idiots at discount tire. My shop has Hunter tire machines so hopefully that'll go over smoothly and won't cost me too much and I'll be set until I need new tires.

Also pretty funny is that the Infiniti dealer has the lugnut listed at $14.16, the guy knocked it down to 'list' at $8.85
The Toyota ones were cheap comparitively at $3.80. Nearly twice what aftermarket would have been but it's the perfect part and hopefully it stands up to corrosion well.

I didn't bother taking the original oem Lexus lugnut off my car again but they measured 27.5mm at the nut and 29.95 at the washer. I was worried that extra 2.5mm at the nut was going to be a problem.

I was going to say, one may be hub-centric, the other may be lug-centric.
Given enough chamfer though (and provided the ODs are similar), it should work. Let us know how you make out.

The G25/G37 Wheels are hubcentric. I test fitted the wheel w/ spacer and new lugnuts without a tire when I got home and it's a good fit.
