I apologize for the thread-jack.Thanks for your advice Darius, if anything goes wrong with my current u-joint I'll be sure to consider the GM 585.

Does anyone have measurements for rb25 in s13 chasis using Tophat mounts? I don't have the motor in the car yet so i can't take measurements.. I ask shaftmaster about it and the response i got was it should be the same or close to using Mckinneys mounts... i could not get measurements for neither. Just want to knoe for sure before i put in an order.

Every setup is different, and no two motors sit exactly the same. Given that information you should figure to wait until your motor and transmission are in to order your drive shaft, in other words make measurements yourself, on your own car). Mine was 43" with Tophat mounts, but that doesn't necessarily mean that your drive shaft will be 43".

i understand what your saying. But if your using the same motor and mounts in the same chasis i would think that length wise should also be the same. When ordering mounts+shaft combo they didn't specify shaft length. So i was under the impression that there is a standard length when using specific mount kit such as Tophat or Mckinney's. other wise they wouldn't be offering a combo option?

Once I have the extra money, I will get an aluminum shaft from shaftmasters..

Worse comes to worse, I will take a piece of aluminum sheet metal that may weigh 2 pounds and cover up where the shaft goes and weld it to the body...

I know for a fact that newer chevy pickups use an incredibly light aluminum driveshaft. Why would they put that on an offroad vehicle if it would get damaged driving on the road? I think aluminums are kosh.

There aren't many things that can go wrong with a D/S. It's either round and balanced, or it's not. The yoke is either welded correctly or it's not. U joints are a servicable item so that's a non issue. Aluminum is the way to go IMHO, my patrol car has one and the car is maintained very well; but it gets rode hard alot and I've never had a failure. That's running through on average 2 tanks of gas a shift, so like 325-400 miles per 12 hour shift, 160+ hours per month. I think the aluminum shaft will last no problem.

I just received my DS from them. I will try and dry-fit it tonight! Everything looks good. David is awesome!

One side note, the price went up to $349.99 shipped - their cost on aluminum went up :-\ But he told me this info before he processed my payment, and was up front with me about it.

I'll let you guys know how it turns out after I get it properly installed and some MT-90

Well, I just went to install my new DS.. and the yolk is wrong (diameter is too small) I called David and he was very helpful. I read him the part# on my yolk and he confirmed that it was for a standard S13 (KA or SR?) - Not RB!

But he just shipped out the correct yolk to me (should be here by Friday). I will see how this goes. I could have been pretty peeved, but he was very polite and apologized for the error on their part and tried to make good of it. I'm still calm, so it is good

The quality of the welds is very good also.
