Can't seem to find a good, reasonably priced aluminum radiator for the SOHC.

Some adds seem to suggest that the E & DE are interchangable while others suggest otherwise.

What to do?

how much were you willign to spend, i saw some nice koyo aluminum rads for around 400. why not look into the copper rads too? the metal just dents and bends easier i believe

Copper is more expensive, and heavier then aluminum. Its is however better at thermal conductivity, meaning it will act as a better heat sink. But I went with Koyo myself. I wish I could say for sure if the rads are interchangeable between E and DE. Maybe someone will chime in. Have you asked this question in the KA forum? I know they're weak being NA and all, but some of them dudes are pretty smart.

Drain plug problems? I have an aluminum koyo on my s13, but it doesn't leak. Are some koyo's defective?

Most of the KOYO's leak around the filler neck--anyone have one that does not leak at the radiator cap.

they might leak, or when you go to take the drain plug out ... it strips and then blah! ... your left finding a way to get that out <--- happened to me the other day ... KAtwo4o did a write up on the drain plug fix title was "I hate you Koyo Parts Committee" or somethin like that .... I have yet to find someone who carries the M10x1.00 bolt tho

Easiest fix would be to Oxy a new bung on there I'd say...but we all can't weld.

I've never drained my coolant yet but what your saying is that when I do open it for the first time, the plug will break and I'll need to find something else to plug it up?

That's what I was thinking of doing since I'm now afraid to ever open the drain plug, ever. Thanks!

Nobody knows where to get a radiator for the sohc?

Are you guys all running stock rads with your turbos?

I'm thinking of buying one for a DE and having the inlet relocated.

I am using my stock 18yr SOHC radiator on my turbo setup with NO overheating issues at all. I use a tuarus SHO hi and low speed fan with an adjustable thermostat controller to kick it on. It has never kicked on HI.... the LOW speed workes just fine.

During this past summer it was pretty damn hot, around 100*+ days were normal and I boosted the crap outta my car with no problems. Fluid was standard antifreeze 50/50 mix with water.

i guess 100* in miami, is hotter than anywhere else. i run altima fans on hi and i get overheating issues on the highway. especially on hot days with the a/c on. but sitting in traffic w/ ac no problems.

You get overheating issues while driving on the highway? Thats pretty unusual. I don't have a/c in my car so that may be another reason why I don't have overheating problems. I do have a FMIC but that doesn't cause any problems with the radiator.

thats an awesome find, seriously! my brother and i have blown several of the ka24de rads on both my ka and his sr setups. it is ALWAYS overheating the plastic return peice and shattering. we can normally pick up rads from the junkyard for 30 to 40 bucks, but its just gettign REALLY annoying. ill upgrade to electric fans soon anyway and see if i can save a few bucks.

Why are you overheating?

Clutch fans are the best there are. You have the shroud in place?
