Hi all, I am in the market for a manual drive shaft too and Enjuku is selling an aluminum one piece drivehshaft that supports 500hp and that cost 449.00. Is this worth it? Any improvement differences? He says his is lighter.

My car probably wont be more than 300hp at the crank on stock turbo.

yes, obviously aluminum is lighter.....

in laymens terms, the difference is similar to changing to a lightened flywheel....

less resistance.

Is 449.00 a good price? Any other places to find this type of driveshaft?

And do any of you have first hand experience with one?

usually, people get them custom made....they are about that price....

is it worth it? only you can answer that for yourself....is it necessary on a street car? not really....

if you have a race car, and all the mods, and looking to free up some HP, then yes its worth it....

It wont add horsepower, but will gain some lost by friction through the drivetrain....it will spin faster, with less resistance, so instead of loosing say 18% horsepower from the flywheel to the wheels, you might only loose 15% hp....

its an expensive part to see almost no performance gains, which is why you dont see it on street applications, usually only race setups....

if your trying to save as much weight as you can its a great mod....but there is a lot of stuff that comes first...

its a good mod, because it is one piece, and the stock one is two piece, and some hp is lost in that boot that connects the 2 piece one, and the design really isnt that great, so a one piece driveshaft is nice to have....but they do break more than 2 piece ones....they dont 'give' as much.

Well the vehicle I am building will be mostly street with some weekend racing at the track. I want to put it into the 13's on the stock turbo though. And since I was on the market for a driveshaft I figure it wouldnt be a bad idea to at least consider the aluminum one-piece. You say it breaks easier? I dont like that, my husband drives pretty hard. I'll see how $$ looks when I get my SR from Daunt, but I am having a difficult time getting a manual driveshaft as well. A lot of the junkyards only have rear not rear and front combo. I wonder y.

Yeah, I know I need the driveshaft ...but it asks u on the websites whether you need rear or front. I guess I'll just say rear, cuz nothing comes up under front. But someone on this forum under the Manual Driveshaft thread said junkyards usually ask for about 70.00 for the front and 100.00 for the rear.

Well, its obvious that front is the front half of the shaft, and rear is the back portion that goes to the differential. You need to figure out which one is different in size from that of a manual, the front or the back piece.

If you search the forums, I belive there is a dicussion on the benefits of a Carbon Fiber driveshaft. I believe its the same price, but lighter and gives a little too.

most of use just go to the local driveshaft shop, and have one custom made.......unless you live in Iowa or something of course : )

With enough cash and knowing where to go I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to get a CF driveshaft made.

if your talking about carbon fiber, then i think you need http://www.google.com also, and see how carbon fiber is one of the strongest composites out there....

Nope...and if by some wild chance you do break it, the material transforms to a dust-like consistency saving you and your car from possible injury.

In otherwords, a steel or aluminum shaft that snaps in half will swing around like a policeman's nightstick. In some cases it has literally cut cars in half at high speeds. Carbon fiber will break down to like a bunch of broom bristles instead of eat the driver alive and cut the expensive car in half.

With all the pro's on the forums, why did it come down to this?

The SEARCH button works incredibly, but since some people can't use it, I made a link to the page. READ!

Its almost as fun as getting into a pissing contest with some a55 over the internet. What did you search for? I used CARBON FIBER DRIVESHAFT which worked wonders.
