Altinator bath?

Hey does anyone know if you can flush out an altinator? The person that had my 240sx before me, let a broken front main seal **** oil all over the place. So now my altinator is full of grease and im not so sure i want to let it run that way. So i was thinking of washing it out or something, but my common sense is telling me that soap and water shouldn't come in contact with it. What should i do?

BTW: The motor was blown, so i haven't ran it since i purchaced it.

no washing the alternator, you will ruin it . i recommend taking the alternator to an autoparts store and getting it tested. if it passes their test then you can just use it. if you absolutely have to clean it use electrical contact cleaner and jsut spray it liberally.
