Altima start problem

My wife's 2002 Altima (101,000 miles) has been running great until yesterday. Now, it cranks but will NOT start. Finally, after alot of cranking...it started to sputter and finally started. I am thinking spark or fuel. How do I check, and is there anything else to do first?

Are you getting any codes? When you turn the key on (don't crank it) can you hear the fuel pump prime?

02 Altimas are known for Crank Sensor failure and will cause that condition. And sometime it will not give you a code. The new updated sensor has a canister look to it and the connector is reversed.
