i have a 2.5 coupe.

Would the 2.5 be considered a sports car, or just sporty?

3.5?

Some people tell me i have a sports car, or a fast car. Just wondering what people on here think of their whips.

I know its not a full size family sedan like the dodge charger minus the hemi.

I think its just considered a Sporty mid size coupe ... but it is NOT a sports car! And if we're talking about the 2.5, then its not a fast car either! That's not a jab at the 2.5 either, bcuz i also own a 2.5 and its just not fast!

Agree with Doc. I own the 3.5 with CVT and I don't consider my car a sports car. Indeed, it is only a sporty coupe. I consider a real sports car should be RWD and should have 50/50 in weight distribution.

I agree with (desertdragon) but will add 2 doors+RWD+minimum of 350HP so no chargers or base mustangs

It is a sporty coupe

The 3.5 should be able to beat a v6 mustang. That is sporty in my book.

Would you say say the 2.5 is king of the other 4 cils or at least top 3.

We even had these threads on the GTO boards 400hp Coupes RWD and most of the members agreed to the term Sports Coupe..They felt Vettes, Vipers,Ferrari, ect were "sports cars"

What do you mean by King? If you're talking looks, that subjective, so no set answer... if you're talking HP, quickness, speed, etc... then the answer is NO. Not top 3, not top 5, but maybe top 10!

Subaru WRX-STI, Mitsubishi EVO, SUBARU WRX, Honda Si, Nissan SE-R, Nissan Altima Coupe...

Ok well good you mentioned those others. WRX, Sti and evo all are boosted , im talking naturally aspirated.

i also agree the SI has no torque, they may come back but not until very late in the race if at all.

The 2.5 can stay ahead up to about 70-75 but the Civic SI runs a 15.1 stock and from what I've read the Altima runs a 15.7. I ran a civic si and beat him up to 70 mph but he was coming up quick so I'm sure he would have blown by me at about 80-85 mph.. They are terrible off the line but once you starting cranking up those lawn mowers they catch you eventually.

Altima coupe is a nice looking car but I never for once thought it is a "sports car"

Everyone has their own ideas though.

For me, a sports car is RWD and has only 2 seats. If its 4 passenger then its a passenger car. 2-seater is not practical therefore its only for sport.V6 or V8 certainly help the argument. Miata... ?? almost a sports car. :D

FWD is not a sports car. Not even with 800hp

I like to think a sports car is one that has a sport/stiff suspension. If it's made to handle well going pretty fast then I think it's madeto be used & abused = Sports Car.

Since our suspension is kinda soft and huge wheel gap I'd say nobut it is sporty.

Spike get rid of that trash can in your sig.

I'm sure mcheddadi can work some magic for you.

And the Altima Coupe is a coupe. That's why it's called an Altima Coupe.

I don't even think STI's and EVO's are sports cars. They are family saloons on crack.

This will go on forever hehehehe

IF there were only 2 categories: sports and family cars, altima would be in the first one.3.5 ctv: It might not be too stiff and might not have RWD, but c'mon, its nothing compared to a corolla or something like that. What i'm trying to say is that it is a COUPE, which in my own words is: something faster than average cars, fun to drive, great looks, not for a family, and above all... something that's fast enough to beat most cars and turns heads around withough having to pay more than 35k for it..

its an "enthusiast" car lol

Hater in the house!!!! For its features, performance, etc... the 3.5 SE is in no way over priced. Its priced similar to all of its competitors... well that would only be the Accord Coupe...

R U bitter because you're in last year's model (well, last generation's model) And you're in a 2.5 so I can walk faster than you can drive!

R U upset you didn't get the SE-R...

please my good friend, please tell us your story! lol

i kind of agree and disagree with both doc and spike

not just the coupe is over priced. ALL altimas are. the altima sedan and coupe should not ever break $26,000. i'm reading that some people payed as high as 28k for a 2.5. yes thats expensive.however i do not see any newer ALTIMA's as grocery getters at all. if you stuff the rear trunk with cargo the rear end sags too much so it does not really do well on that part. i see the sedan as an entry level mid size sedan and the coupe as an entry level coupe.

when i think of grocery getters i think of minivans and suv's

Please don't take my posts seriously. I'm just making trouble, really

But I am plenty happy with my car and that is my truthful opinion on the altima coupe and I am sorry if that angers you.

The 2.5 coupe is just as heavy and underpowered as the TC. Proportionately speaking, they both push about the same HP per pound. The only difference is that the TC has a HUGE aftermarket which includes turbo systems from turbonetics. I'm not sure how fast the altima coupe's aftermarket will pick up, but at this rate, a lot of people are going to give up on it seeing how stillen is just about the only company who even cares.

the 3.5 coupe is just a waste of money IMO. $30k for a FWD coupe with back seats that are only slightly functional. I just don't see the point. If you want a good 2 door coupe, then get a 350z, if you want something with functioning rear seats, then get the sedan. Why make a hybrid vehicle that is good at neither of those things?

But don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on the Altima coupe. I love how it looks, especially with the new stuff that stillen is developing for it, but I just hate what it is. The the same reason that I hate the accord coupe and the solara. They are just way to expensive for what they are.

For the record, I don't wish that I had an SE-R. I like the looks, but I would not want to pay the insurance for the V6, gas prices are just about $4 here, traffic is constantly stop and go, and we have no track.
