I went to a dealership today and lo and behold in the showroom, an Altima SE-R! Wow it's an amazing looking car, definitely the best lookin altima ever. Very comfortable to sit in. For those that don't know:

Cept the one I saw was black.

So did they boost the power or is it just a snazzy body kit and rims?

Nissan's official statement on power is "over 250 hp".I read somewhere to expect around 300.And that pic is entirely CG...I haven't found any genuine ones yet.

I have the whole list of its features at home, but I'm at work right now...

That is the exact car though. Same body and same wheels. Really cool.

The Alty SE-R's are rated at like 255hp and I can't remember the torque numbers. Power isn't up a whole lot, but a little.

Mostly the suspension and looks of the car were changed I think, and some interior work done. I love it personally.

What Nissan finally put out to the masses is 260 hp and 251 ft-lbs @3600 rpm. It's a VQ35DE with continuously variable valve timing control (a la Murano and Maxima). Automatic transmission with manual shift mode (a la Titan and Armada) SE-R sport tuned suspension (a la Sentra SE-R, Spec V and 350Z) and engine speed sensitive power assisted rack and pinion (a la Pathfinder)....Altima SE-R took the best mid-sized sedan and integrated the best features from other Nissans. Leaving the Accord looking for it's mommy.

260 is all? But the Maxima makes more than that. That's stupid. Why put SE-R on something not making insane amounts of power?

Heh. Makes me laugh. Honda claims the Accord is Maxima competition. But it can't even keep up with the SL Altima. The SE-R is so far beyond Honda's reach, it makes me proud.

The Altima SE-R looks to be pretty sick, but for the money it'll cost, I'd rather go with the 350Z. There will only be a couple thousand difference between.

I'd rather have the Maxima over both of those. Or the G35. But the Altima SE-R still kicks ***.

GARDENA, Calif. (September 8, 2004) - Nissan North America, Inc., today announced 2005 model year pricing for the exciting new Altima SE-R. Taking its “high performance – high value SE-R philosophy to the next level, the Altima SE-R features a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $29,200. The Altima SE-R goes on sale at Nissan dealerships nationwide in late September.

The Altima sedan was completely redesigned for the 2005 model year with both exterior and interior refinements. The Altima SE-R, the sixth model in the Altima lineup, shares those same features, and then some. The Altima SE-R’s standard 3.5-liter V6 engine has been retuned to a higher level of performance (260 hp vs 250 hp for non SE-R models) and the suspension has been enhanced with performance-tuned front struts and rear shocks, stiffer front and rear springs and thicker front and rear stabilizer bars. The SE-R comes with 225/45R18 Y-speed rated tires and 18-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels.

The SE-R’s exterior offers a number of special features, including new front and rear fascias, compact fog lights, new rear spoiler and side sill spoilers and large dual exhaust finishers. Inside, the SE-R features sport-shaped leather-appointed front seats with red or gray leather inserts, dark chrome trim and a three-pod center-mounted gauge package, which is similar to that found on the legendary 350Z.

Nissan also announced a $50 increase on all other Altima models and a $50 increase on the Sunroof option. Complete pricing and option packages are available on the attached sheets. The 2005 Altima brings a blend of performance, style and value that is unmatched in the mid-size sedan segment. With its distinctive exterior design, choice of powerful 4-cylinder or V6 engines, performance-oriented suspension and fresh interior, Altima injects passion into the marketplace and offers an escape from the traditional four-door sedan.

In North America, Nissan's operations include automotive styling, engineering, consumer and corporate financing, sales and marketing, distribution and manufacturing. They should have put a vortech on it. Or the new VQ40DE. Or both. That would have been worth it. as the car stands, I don't really think it's worthy of the "R". I'll stick with my Maxima.

It needs a paint job like yours, Twelv...and some Volks.

Eh, still not that bad a deal. Good deal for people looking for something sporty, with good power, and can seat four people. The family mans 350Z (assuming this family man doesn't have the cash for a G) Plus, this is fully loaded for the price of a base Z.

1,000 dollars of performance stuff to my car and I gain 25 hp so that is like 270 at the crank for my car. I only paid 24,000 for 3.5 and my ride is still more pimp then the SE-R lol. Also my car is 100lbs less then stock so that equals more fun.
