So I have a completely stock 2010 Nissan Altima 2.5s and my friend recently told me about resonator deletes. It seems like a quick inexpensive way to get some good sound out of my car. I'm not looking for power, just to make it sounder meaner. Anyone do it or have any tips/comments on it?

Good question, I want more sound too but don't care about performance. I would only get exhaust for sound and performance. Not to mention I doubt that exhaust frees up any horsepower in reality.

I deleted the muffler, but kept the resonator on my Versa. I'm pleased with the results.

If you have a cvt, it may get a little monotonous perhaps

Don't.

On most 4 bangers with stock mufflers and resonators, a resonator removal = disgusting rasp and possibly drone. Mostly lame-loud, some drone, and weird looks. I've done this with my 4 banger, and have heard the results of others with resonators lacking (even V6 really, or bigger). 4 cyl. engines just sound worse due to their nature.

Wait a minute, are you the same guy who said "I deleted the muffler, but kept the resonator on my Versa. I'm pleased with the results."???????

Duh, similar set up on both cars.

Engine--- Converter---Resonator---Muffler, in that order

Resonator or muffler, who cares what they call it? Each can be in the opposite location depending on what the OEM calls the part and BOTH are technically mufflers, it's just that calling one a resonator tells the mech how to sort out the parts. A muffler commonly uses resonation to kill noise and what do you call it then? What matters more is the internal construction of each.

4 cylinders like said above make a lot of noise due to being flat and 180 degree and why they need 2 mufflers. Remove one and often you get a LOT more noise than you expect. And very often that droning stuff that drives you batty on long drives on the highway.
