Altima on Craigslist

I'm not too familiar with Altima's, but I'm looking for a cheaper car with decent gas milage.

If you guys could help me out it would be great.

Are these reliable? Are there any major things that go bad that I should look for? What do they run gas milage wise?

Does it have a KA in it I assume?

I'm lookin at this and a 1997 Civic hatch that needs a timing belt and muffler with 186K on it for $1100.

Thanks a lot...I really appriciate it.

i think its a bit steep for a first gen, but thats just me. contact the guy and try to get it for 1000...if he really wants to get rid of the car 1000 is good enough

i rather get the hatch... drop in a b16 motor while you are at it, instead of just changing the belt... or you can just drive it until it dies haha

Well I'm really just looking for a car with good gas mileage to run so I can save up cash for a nicer car.

I'm at the point where I'm either gonna sell my max or buy a cheap car and turbo my max.

I just don't know what I want to do yet.

haha why turbo a maxima? why not sell the max, buy the alt for daily and the hatch for project? I think in the end, you are gonna be paying more to turbo the max then a civic

Yea all in all it would be about $2000 more or less.

I've pretty much got the parts located and such...it was just a matter of getting a car so I could park mine.

Idk I guess I thought it would be fun, plus I love my car...guess I've grown fond of it...but that doesn't seem like a bad idea at all.

Hrmmmm....you may have sparked a fire there.

I acctually found another on there with less miles (131K) for 800.

Same year and everything.

I emailed him for some pics, says body has some dents.

I hope its a 5spd. If its decent I may just pick it up!!

I have no complaints with my altima coupe. I love it!! Great on gas mileage too, like 500 miles per tank.

Nice Max. I had one like that but it was a '90. It was my daily driver for a couple years before I got my coupe.

Thanks man!!

I LOVE it but I'm looking for something 5spd with a little bit more options as far as performance.

I'm thinking of selling it but I have to decide what I want to do 1st.
