The basics to check are thermostat, radiator cap, and radiator fluid. There is a lever under the dash that controls the heat, or vent door for the heat. It might be stuck. Start the car, let it warm up, and wiggle that lever. Its pretty close to the middle of the firewall. It should open up then and give you heat. Is the car overheating?

Could also be, and probably is, the heater core.

You can also check the heater hoses that go to the heater core. They go through the firewall. After engine warm up feel the hoses, they both should be hot. If one is hot and the other cold than the heater core is blocked. If its blocked you can remove both hoses and back flush the core with a hose. Do not yank on the hoses, slit them with a razor and peel them away or you can damage the core. After you do this park the car uphill with the cap off and let it run for 15 minutes to let any air out.

Hello. If you could be more descriptive such as control knob failure, or insufficiant heat at idle I may be of further assistance. My name is Mike Lucas and I would be happy to be of further assistance. Thank you...
