I have looked through the search topics and have not really found anything that answers this question. I have altima fans and an aftermarket fan controller. Well the fans would not come on and was allowing the engine to overheat sometimes when stopped and let to idle for 5-10 minutes or so. Well I found that the clap which was holding the yellow ign wire and red power wire was too big for the terminal and it would not engage the fans (the variable terminal was set to half straight 12:6 position) Well It most of the time would run at the half way mark on the temperature gauge.

I drained the radiator fluid and installed some 50/50 prestone with 16 cap fulls of water wetter... that stuff works great!!!!!!! I did not think it would.

Well it still was running up in the temp range on occations..... Well I took my voltage meter and started testing voltage on the battery then the fan controller. I found that there was a short or a bad connection with the red and yellow power wires. So I cramped the wires down and then bent the connector enough to were it was not in contact with any other wire going to the engine. The fans come on at this point when the temp gauge hits the half mark and runs strong. Both high speed fans engage to cool the engine off at the same temp.

I adjusted the controller a little and the fans engage early. I am curious though if running the engine a little cooler than normal will hurt anything. I looked at the gauge now and it runs about the quater of the temp gauge not half way to three quaters as it was running. So, if FBI or someone else knows if this could do damage to my engine then please answer. It runs like a champ -- no running hot up to this point now but I am curious if it is ok to run it in this range....

I am guessing 170-180 instead of 180-190 degrees.. It seems the SR20DET likes the cooler experience.....

no, running a little cooler won't hurt anything. If it gets too cool, the thermostat will close a bit to compensate. 180-190° isn't even dangerous. It may retard ignition timing a bit to avoid pre-detonation but it's otherwise not going to hurt anything.
