What's up peep? Ok, to let you know this will be my first write-up. So, please bare with me. The install is being performed on a '93 240SX SE.

The fans came from a '97 Altima, thermo switch and some fabbed brackets. I'm not good at this, but I can post as many pics as you all need. Tools you'll need will be 10mm wrench, 14mm socket, wire strippers, 12g wire, 20amp fuse and wire connecters.

The fans:

Thermo switch kit:

Fabbed up backets and air box 10mm bolts:

First you will need to disconnect the neg. on the battery before you start. . .2. After you do that proceed to take off your intake system. . .3. Unbolt your fan shroud with a 10mm wrench. . .4. Get the 14mm socket and loosen the fan belt. . .5. With the 10mm wrench, unbolt the four nuts that holds the fan/pulley to the waterpump. . .6. Unplug and remove the A/C fan. . .

Now, you have to test fit the fans, becuase you are going to have to do some trimming to make them fit right. I trimmed the sides and the top brackets.

Test fit:

Ok, with that done, you will need to wire it up now. Take the A/C fan that you removed and cut the plug off. Now you will need to find out what wire is the - and + side of the wires. The ALtima fans also have low and high. I used only the low sides of the fans, later I'll be wiring them up to a relay so I can turn them on with a switch with the car off. For in between runs for cooldown. Remember that you want to wire them up to be pullers, not pushers.

Next, you will need to mount the probe for the thermo switch. Put it as close to the inlet side off the rad. That will be the hottest.

Probe installed:

Next, mounting the thermo switch. I mounted mine right next to the battery.

Thermo switch installed:

Next, installing the fans. Lower them down and with the brackets, 10mm bolts and 10mm wrench. Attach the fans.

Fans installed:

Next, ground the fans to the frame and make sure you scrape off the paint so that it grounds good. Wire up the thermo switch using the 20amp fuse and wire connectors.

Fuse installed:

Next, install the pulley back on the waterpump using the same nuts and then tightin up the belt. Put your intake system on and connect the battery.

Finished install:

Now all you have to do is start your car, warm it up and set the thermo switch to come on before your A/C fan comes on. For that reason, your A/C fan come on at 210. If I remember right, warm up is at 195.

If you have any question just let me know and I'll try to awrser them and don't forget that I post any pic that you might need. For more pics visit my gallery at: http://nissaninfiniticlub.net/...term=

Awesome write up! Great pics!

I'm adding it to the "240sx Writeups" Sticky at the top of this forum, if that's okay with you.

how could u miswire the fans to make them pushers instead of pullers? also, since they have two speeds, are they low speed by default? or high speed? last but not least, have any extra brackets exactly like urs lying around? [email protected]

Great write-up!

To understand a pusher and a puller. . . .a pusher goes on the the front of the rad. to help push the air through it. A puller (like most found on cars), are behind the rad. to help pull the air through. Most fans are reversible, lets say you have a green and blue wire coming from your fan. If you hook up the wire like +G and -B it's a puller and +B and -G it's a pusher.

They are set on low as default.

I went to Home Depot and got two strips of metal, bent them the way I needed and then drilled holes through them to match the hole of the mount.

For all that right going out to find ALtima fans. . . I got mine from the local junk yard for $50. Each fan (as seen the pic below) have the same color wires coming out of them. Yellow and Black for the ground side and Bue and Green for the positive side. I used on both fans, the Black and Green wires.

Hope this helps, if you need me to take some more pic. . .I will. Thanks for the comments. .

you switch the polarity of the currents and that will make the fans push instead of pull..

BUT, why would you want to do that anyways??? if you put the fan on the outside of the radiator then the wind will screw up the fan while you are driving.... so leave it to pull and mount them on the inside.

i pulled this from Zilvia.net

+12v blue, (-12v black & -12v green) == low speed

+12v yellow, (-12v black & -12v green) == high speed

(+12v blue & +12v yellow), (-12v black & -12v green) == fans don't spin at all!

Like my car. I have an S13 with an RB25det and a Koyo Radiator. There isn't room between the Radiator and the pullies on the RB for a puller fan, so I had to use a pusher.

I got mine from Napa for $20. You can get it from almost any auto parts store. All you have to do is ask for a Thermo Switch.

I just installed the Altima fans in my 91 that had AC, but have questions on the wiring. I want to use the original 2 wires to hook up one fan and the other will be controlled external thermo.

1. I have 2 wires that connected my old fan which one do I connect to positive and which one connects to negative to make it pull? How do I connect those two wires to the new altima fan wires?

2. +12v blue, (-12v black & -12v green) == low speed

+12v yellow, (-12v black & -12v green) == high speed

(+12v blue & +12v yellow), (-12v black & -12v green) == fans don't spin at all!

I am guessing the above means this?

Low Speed: blue connects to +12v source, black and green connect to ground.

High speed: yellow connects to +12v source, black and green connect to ground.

On my fans that I have ('97 Altima), I've connected:

- black (fan) to - black (a/c)+ green/orange (fan) to + blue (a/c)

Now, when I used the fans, I only used to low sides of each. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I will test that out next couple of days. The only difference I am connecting the 2 factory wires to a bosch relay. I want to use high speed on both fans so I am going to wire them up using 12 gauge wire and 30 amp fuses. If it works and you don`t mind I can post wire diagram to complement yours using bosch relays. I will probably add a Thermostat on the second fan as well.

That's fine. When I get my set-up complete, I'll be wiring the high sides to a relay and a toggle so I can turn them on in-between runs without the car running.

the thermo switch would work with any fan.. correct?and if so.. how could i tell when i should set the thermo switch? the previous owner seemed to have removed the ac fan and cut the belt on the condensor.

Ok, what you'll have to do is start your car and with a volt meter find out which one is the power side of the a/c fan. The a/c fan will come on at 210f. I have my fan with the thermo switch come on before the a/c fan comes on. Do you have a S13 or S14?

whats the a/c plug and stuff for...what temp does the stock mech fan coem on atwhat temp does the mech fan shut off atwhat temp does the altima fans shut off at, and do u set this or what..should you set the fans to come on at the same temp as your thermostat (ie 180* thermostat so fans come on at 180*)

also could u wire in 2 thermo switchs one for low speed and one for highspeed (set at like 230* incease you start to overheat while drifitng or something...)

thanks alot

You are right. . . black is ground and brown/white is power. You're welcome man, that's why we are all here. . .
