Ok, i have a question for everyone who knows about the sohc engine.... My bro just totalled my dads altima 95. It has a 2.4 with more hp then mine and it has 90...And my ka24e has 213k on it. So obvioulsy we want to try a swap..but of course the ****ty altima auto transmission wont work, so i want to know if anyone hear has seen an Altima swap work put up to a ka24e 5-speed transmission?

ok so here is the deal...there have been very very few 5sp swaps on Altimas, due to the fact that most people are to much of a ***** to do it, because it "costs" to much. You need to remmber that the 2.4 in the Altima is set up be mounted horizontally, not perpendiculary, so i think that you may have a problem getting the engine in there first of all, and as for the transmission fitting and working i would go ask in the 240sx forum, cause they would have a better idea about that due to the fact that no Altima's ever came with a SOHC engine. so to find out about that you would need to find a person with a Stanza that had done it...sorry for being wordy. Hope i gave you some help

If I'm understanding you correctly, you want to put the KA24DE that was in a 95 Altima, into your '90 240SX, correct?

You can do that, but you will need to use your S13's transmission, intake manifold, and exhaust manifold, but use the Altima's ECU.

That is, if I understood your question correctly.

Oh yeah! DOH! I was thinking about the whole RWD vs. FWD thing, but you are right. He will need the manifolds off a KA24DE 240SX.

sounds like one hell of a project, and yes, one of the most important misshaps ive seen is with people using the wrong ecu and throwing everything out of whack, so jus do ur self a favor and do it all right the first time

just buy a ka out of a 240, saves your the hassle and just sell your altima outright.

It does cost alot of money to do a 5 speed swap if you don't want ot do the work yourself. I've quoted this when my auto went out and it was around 2500 to do it.

yes but he's talking about a swap from a transmission he already has, not buying a new one
