so on my 2010 altima coupe im thinking about changing the brakes (calipers and rotors) to G37s brakes. i already have the G37s wheels the 19" 10 spoke. but i wanna change the front and back brakes to them too. so i was wondering what i really needed... well of course the calipers, rotors, and pads... but has anyone done this yet? what else is needed? any hoses or anything? also another question was that what about the hand brakes? would those be left alone?

imma be honest.... i have no idea.

i do know that if this ends up working out- you wont have any bit of a problem w/ the handbrake because its a physical brake line/wire that u pull to force the brakes to close.

it has been done before. on a altima sedan a couple years ago. It was a members car and I think it ended up costing $1,000 or $1,500 if I can remember correctly.

The 370z sport brakes are the same as the g37 sport brakes - just a different color and branding... and more expensive.

It can be done. Just a direct bolt on for the most part. Stock brake lines work fine. You will need the banjo bolt from a G37 sport (bolt that connects brake line to caliper). The stock altima bolt is a little longer and if you install it on the akebono calipers, they will bottom out and possibly crack the caliper. The front dust shield fits fine, rear dust shield needs to be trimmed.[imgImage][/img]Image
Rear brakes

You may want to consider a G37 sport spare because the stock one will no longer fit.Image

Zack is correct. I only had Rotora's custom 8/4 pot BBK. Custom because they don't make the 8 pot for the fronts, it was meant for shows/events/publicity.Rotora only goes up to 6 piston for the fronts and they do have 4 piston for the fronts as well. The rears were not custom, they are 4 piston, and can be purchased from Rotora. I did not have the Akebono brakes. Hope this clarifies everything.

The stock G37s rotors are really heavy. About 28.5 lbs for the fronts. I run slotted and drilled rotors from OC autosports. Still very heavy. Just ordered dba 5000 2 piece rotors for the front and dba 4000 for the rears. They are a little over 19lbs. If you plan on tracking your car, I would suggest slotted rotors. If it is just street, then drilled and slotted. Rotora makes really good rotors for the G. I run factory G37s pads. Make no noise at all and wear very well with very little dust. Had them on the a/c for almost 2 years. You can use any performance pads for a G or 370Z with akebonos. I have had good experiences with hawk performance pads in the past, although they tend to squeak just allitle. Just make sure you bed them in really good.

I would like to know how this turned out. Is the only thing needed to go from our stock brakes to G37 brakes the Banjo Bolt? I'm down to get G37 brakes. They are a nice upgrade over factory without dropping 3 grand on brakes.

z1 motorsports sells the akebono brake kit, which now after some reading about them as a 370 owner, the g37 and 370 share the same brake setup when the sport package is equipped on each model.

370ztune.com also sells the brake kit. They're sold as a kit intended for those who did not purchase the sport package and want to upgrade the brakes without going crazy on a Project Mu or Brembo kit.

I am still currently unsure about what it will take to get these on an Altima. The only real road bump I see is the endlink setup on the rear discs being troublesome for fitment.

D - you could do it with a little bit of work. And by work I mean wheels to fit.

Lots of guys do the 350Z Brembos on the Z32, but I believe Z1 had a customer that did the Akebono brakes on his Z32TT.

Banjo bolts that are M10x1.0 thread @ 18.75mm length work. I got them (StopTech's) from Zeckhausen Racing at roughly $35 shipped. I think they were a few dollars cheaper than the dealership.

Rears yes, fronts no. Same reason as brembos from g35, front need custom brackets made to fit calipers.
