Don't want to belabor this comparison between the Altima and Accord coupes, but there are some points that haven't been mentioned by others. I bought my 3.5 SE coupe (6 speed) for the following reasons. 1) Price: Here in Canada, the V6, 6 speed Altima lists for $4000 less than the V6 6 speed Accord. That's because the Accord only comes fully loaded. In my case, I'm not interested in sliding around on dead animal skin seats, and I have a great portable GPS unit, so it was a no brainer to go with the Altima. Score 1 - 0 for Altima. 2) Size: In my view, a sporty coupe should be light and relatively compact, like the Altima. The Honda is a big boat - longer and wider than the Altima sedan! It's also 200 lb. heavier than the Altima coupe! Score 2 - 0 Altima. 3) Fuel consumption: The Altima V6 is rated better than the Honda V6 6 speed coupe (again, here in Canada). That's because Honda doesn't offer cylinder deactivation for that model. Altima wins again! Score 3 - 0 Altima. 4) Styling: That bulbous nose and those bug-eyed headlights on the Honda just don't work for me. Same for the boring taillights. Also, the dash looks like it would be more at home in grampa's Buick that a sporty coupe. Score 4 - 0 Altima. 5) Handling and acceleration: Even though the Altima has a much better power to weight ratio, the Honda seems to be faster. I attribute a lot of that to the skinny Turanza tires on the Altima. Even with those, the Altima still pulls .87g on the skidpad. Some sticky rubber and minor modifications, and the Honda is history. So, fellow Altima coupe enthusiasts, feel good about your car. It's definitely the best!

So I went to an auto show today and got to sit in an Accord coupe, and I must say that we definitely made the right decision(if it was one at all) in getting the altima coupe. The inside was so 'futuristic' looking and confusing. Maybe some like that, but I am a more simplistic guy. That car really has potential, but the outside creases and lines just look strange. Not to mention its like 8-10 inches too long. Think Dodge stratus(or something like thats the name) coupe from a few years ago. Pretty decent looking car but a bit too long. the accord just looks like a slightly modified accord sedan, while the altima coupe looks like its own car. There was definitely much more interest at the altima then the stupid honda.

The only thing that made me want to get an accord over the a/c was that this month the factory incentive in Canada was a $1500 rebate for the a/c (base model accord had this too) but the V6 accord had a $3000 dollar rebate. Of course the a/c rebates applied to financing and leasing while the accord rebates were for cash purchases only. I wanted to go with financing so there was no advantage to go with the accord rebate-wise - plus I think the the back end of the accord looks like a pinched off "loaf" if you know what I mean.

I sneaked my purchase in at the last second and still qualified for the a/c rebate because the broker found mine at a dealership in Vancouver - if I had needed to order from factory then I wouldn't have gotten the rebate - the vehicle has to have "arrived" at a dealership for you to legally have closed the sale and get the rebate before the March 31st deadline hit..

Don't hate the Honda. It's a good car. Problem is, the automotive journalists seem to choose the Honda over the Altima for their specific reasons and just wanted to mention that there are other factors involved in real world car purchases.

You're going to love that car. Congratulations. I know what you mean about the rebates. When I bought my coupe in November, the rebate was $4000. With additional negotiation, I managed to get the car for close to U.S. M.S.R.P. A Honda coupe would have been $9000 more!

don't get me wrong, i absolutely love my alty coupe, but i saw a greyish silverish accord coupe today with either 19's or 20's black on chrome lip that looked really REALLY nice. i still like the altima's better, but the car looked really nice. i didn't think so until today, but the accord coupe has a lot of potential too.

lets just say, both cars are great and respectable in their own ways.

But in the end, when it comes to styling, once again the accord coupe is just a accord sedan minus the two doors and a chopped off rear. Where as the altima coupe although it still shows some similarities it almost looks as if its own car from the sedan. not to mention it comes with more goodies such as push start and the sexy VQ engine. cant go wrong with that.

nissan just needs to step their INTERIOR GAME up. The engine gets it and goes, and the push start is crazy..but some like keys.. and hondas only fault, is that its a huge car now. lol if FIT is in CIVICS slot, then whats in accords? civic? the nissan looks better, but the accord has a dark aggressive look also, which only honda can love. Lol. The A/c insides are a lil more rough than the accords too though. And that small trunk does not do it for me.. Both good cars, you just have to come to your own conclusion? im guessing..lol somone make a pros/cons sheet! asap! lol
