Hello Nicoclub! I'm relatively new here, only did one post a while back, but since I have some time on my hands (finally) I thought I finally should post something since this forum helped me a lot! With that being said...I need help on tires. Reason I post this is because I hear mixed reviews about tires all the time, mostly from people who's driven for only 12,000 miles on their tires. What would be the "best" tires to get? I'm in college, so funds are tight but I would shell out a high price for good tires (performance preferred but all seasons will work). What are you guys suggestions? Thanks and hope everyone is enjoying the New Year! (supposedly the last year of existence  )

I got michelin pilot sport plus a/s. I love em. No road noise and they catch grip instantly. They're pricey though. Ive heard good things about the hankook ventus v12 tires. They're more affordable too.

I'm in the opposite situation as Irving. I have ventus v12's and I like em. I've heard good things about Michelin Pilot's as well. Other tires that I hear are good are Falken FK 451/452 and Kuhmo Ecsta's.

Thanks for the response guys! I'm currently looking at the Yokohama S. drive summer performance tires. Have you guys had any experience with those? I'm also looking into Michelins, the ones that Irvxing has. How long have you had them? How about yours Alex? Please tell me all you can because I don't have the money for trial and error. Had my stock Turanza tires for a LONG time. Thanks!

Honestly never have used Yokohamas. I got all season tires because im in the same situation as you. Schools not cheap! So I recommend getting a/s aswell. Ive had mine for over 10k miles. So far I cant really see any wear on them and I push em. Discount tire offers a 45k mile warranty on them so I went for it. Hankooks are really good too from what ive read almost went with them. Most tires will be better than the turanzas. You'll immediately feel and hear a huge difference when you switch. Oh and also I'm running 245/40/19 and these tires feel butter smooth.

Especially University tuition! Damn thing goes up every year! So, all seasons are cheaper than summer performance? Yea, I'm a noob with tires because I don't really change them, ride them til they're bald (literally). I've also never bought tires online. Do you suggest discount tire? Do they balance your tires also? And all I have to do is get it installed if I do purchase online? BTW, nice rims! I'm just going to stick to my dipped OEM for now. I'll just see whats up at my local tire shop and if you can get back to me with the pros and cons of buying tires online, that would be great! Thanks!

Tell me aboug it. Going to school full time and working full time. I didn't buy them online. I went to one of their locations. And yes they will rotate and balance them for the life of the tires for Free. I get mine rotated for free every 5k miles. Also helps maintain the tires warranty. Ive never bought wheels or tires online. And thanks! :mike

I was initially going to go with the Hankook Ventus V12s. But they are directional tires.

If your Altima is lowered, you're probably going to run into some camber issues. Camber is the angle of the tire against the flat ground. Positive or negative camber means one side of the tire is going to wear faster than the other.

The trick to getting more life out of your tires if you have any significant camber, is to rotate the tires so the wear evens out.

Having said that, the Ventus V12 tire can only be rotated front to back, and not left to right. That won't help you even out the tread wear.

Also the V12 has little tread to begin with. You might get 15k-20k miles out of them if you drive hard. They are also summer tires. You won't have great traction in the rain, and none in the snow. Forget trying to get up a driveway, with any more than a trace of snow.

For those reasons I decided against the Ventus V12s and got the Continental Extreme Contact DWS. They cost the same amount, they have the same speed rating - Y, they are all season tires, they have more tread life, and they are asymmetrical - meaning they can rotated any which way to get more life out of them.

I have some noticable rear camber, but as long as you keep the car aligned, you don't have as many problems. I have Goodyear Eagle GT All-Seasons, and I have no complaints. I won't be getting them again, but that's only because I plan to run two sets of wheels with winter and summer tires on them when this set eventually wears out on me.

I've heard s-drives are nice! Pricey though. Also, I thought all seasons were more expensive than summer?

Good points about the v12. I plan to get around the uneven camber wear by flipping the tires as opposed to rotating them.
My traction isn't so bad in the rain but you've got me scared for the snow lol. We only get snow once a year here and thank goodness I still have my stock wheels.

So in the end, what lasts longer? Summer tires or all season performance? I don't go to the snow (once a year maybe) and my car isn't lowered. Thanks!

My all-seasons will likely need to be replaced in another few thousand miles, and they've lasted me 62,000mi so far.

I had Yoko's on my Civic Si and my dad swears by them. He is a master mechanic and overall car guru, so I trust his input. For the $$$$ you can't go wrong. I would also prefer to get mine at a "brick and mortar" tire place for free tire maintenance. Sure, you save $$$ initially online, but I prefer face to face.

The only good thing about a brick n mortar tire shop, is the install is usually free. Buy them online and you'll most likely have to spend some more money to have them put on. But dont forget about your TPMS sensors if you dont want to see a warning light.

Actually, some places will do tire rotations and balances for free if you get your tire package with them. Plus put the TPMS sensors in and install. However, I bought my last set online and never had issues. So, really, its a up the person as with most things on our cars are.

Thanks for the reply everyone! It's been raining where I live so I haven't gotten the chance to visit a tire shop. I don't think I've ever recalled the guys who install my tires put in TPMS sensors? Definitely ask them about it when I get the chance.

I bought my tires online. Install plus TPMS swap cost about $160.

gotcha funkee and thanks! I'm running stock wheels though and am looking to get the same size tire as OEM, just different brand and more stickier. No TPMS required right?
