Hi Everyone,

First of all, please forgive the ignorance of a Noob. I've been reading from this forum for a couple weeks now and learned a few things here and there. I'm planning to get the V6 Coupe this weekend and I'm looking for rims. I've seen 20s and even that one w/ 22s. From what i've read, the A/C should accomodate 20s just fine. The offset is 35mm-40. Is that the recommended or is that the max range? I am new to car mod and this is the rims/look I kinda like

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

the offset on those are 20mm for front and 25mm for rear

I liked how it looked on this car. Would it be not suitable for the A/C because it's FWD or the way the car is compared to the Z? Oh yea, I also plan to drop it like an inch or so as needed when the Eibach springs come out. But i'm also worried about the tires rubbing against the fender.

Please advise a diff specs if needed !! Thanks and have a good day

The offset range is 35-45... Why would you ask about a 20 offset? In addition, if you are ever gonna buy something this expensive on ebay... always call them up and get it for cheaper... Ebay fees are atleasdt 7%, which is over 100 bucks on this..

thanks for the reply. Like i said in my post, I wasn't sure if 35-40 is recommended or Max.. So now I'd have to look into that range only then. As far as buying it, I actually know someone who knows a guy that own a tire shop. Just haven't went out to meet him yet. Thanks again

Your factory offset is a +45. I would go between 38-45. a +35 may or may not stick out too much, or they might bring it right to the fender edge, which would look really nice. Those are nice looking rims, BUT are they of good quality? If you look carefully, the wheels on the 350Z are not the same ones you're thinking they are; look at the spoke pattern. I think those are actually WORK or VOLK wheels which would cost you about $600-$800 per wheel without tires because they forged lightweights.

I hope that ebay company isn't trying to trick you or rip you off. Do research, reed feedback, and like LBC said, call them up not only for a cheaper price, but to find out some info on these wheels. Good luck with your purchase.

Hi generic808,

According to the Z's sounddomain page, the rims were Axis Penta and I found the same design on Axiswheels.com as well. The website also featured the rims on the bmw as seen on the ebay page.

Looking at the offset #s it looks like i won't be able to accomodate them in the A/C ......... My car is gonna be Radiant Silver. Would polished look better or hyper black or anything else?

Thanks

My bad, they just look like a Volk design. I'm looking through some of my mags right now because I know Volk makes something very similar in design but I can't seem to find it right now. Anyways, Axis, from what I have heard, is a decent brand. One thing you will have to watch out for though, is potholes. With such a large wheel as 20's, your tire will have a very short sidewall and you will be prone to more wheel damage. I knew someone who ran Axis Reverbs on her xB and got pothole damage to one of the wheels. She was rolling on 2 Axis and 2 stock wheels for a few weeks until her new wheel came in. I'd personally go with a forged wheel for strength and for it's light weight.

Yes, I've seen a couple of Volks and Wolks designs that are like that. Thanks for your input, i'm going to pick up my car tomorrow if nothing changes. Can't wait

check out the previous threads on wheel offsets. Look at LBC's rims, he's got 20 x 8.5's w/ +35 offset...His rims look really nice on his whip, but he doesn't plan on lowering it. +35 is the absolute lowest offset you should get for a FWD car like the A/C. As generic stated, it depends on what look you are going for. You said you're gonna drop your car with eibach springs, I'm guessing you'd like your rims to tuck underneath the fender rather then hit the fender. if you are gonna drop your car, I would go with +42 ~ +45 offsets. Remember, the A/C stock wheels have a +45 offset on a 7.5 inch wheel, so the same offset on an 8.5 inch wheel is gonna cause the wheel to stick out .5 inches more. Each mm you go down in offset will cause the wheel to stick out an extra mm.

Also, as LBC did, make sure you choose the right size tire to fit the rims. The tire that will get your 20 wheel closest to factory diameter is 245 / 35/20. I think this is only~ 0.4 inches larger than the stock diameter, thus minimizing incorrect tire rotation readings by your car!

I think I just read that thread, your post is very helpful. One last question, if I can't find the rims that are the right offset, can I use spacers to push it out? Thanks

You can use spacers; however, there are a few cons to them. I just added 8mm spacers to my wheels, but a good rule of thumb is not to go over 5mm. I just decided that I wanted that flush look so I went with the 8's. Adding spacers will put more bending stress on your wheel studs which they weren't designed for. If you go with large spacers such as 1" or 1.5", you risk breaking studs, especially when burning out or cornering very hard.

Johnny... it's improtant to remember, offset works opposite of how you think. A lower offset will stick out FURTHER than a higher offset! And from what I've seen , there appear to be a larger variety of +35 - +42 offset aftermarket wheels than +45 offset wheels, probably because of the issue I spoke of earlier.

Spacers would only be needed if you buy higher offset wheels and and want these to stickout the way lower offset wheels would. In this case, as mentioned earlier, you may just want to buy the lower offsets in the first place! I would definately listen to generic and his advice about those spacers!
